The media can report whatever they want. What you are saying is you are for anyone without restricted area badges to be allowed to roam freely in restricted and classified areas. There is a responsibility to securing restricted areas and classified information. Those people can go to prison for failing to do so. IMHO we already let the public know more than they should about military information.

Sounds like OAN is about to step up. They'll be followed by others who will become the sole reporting outlets for the Pentagon. Like it or not, this isn't the 1950's. There's more than one way to deliver news to a free press. If the legacy media wants to fight it, go ahead. But people like OAN, Newsmax, Daily Wire, etc will step up into that mantle so fast, it'll make your head spin. This white house has more than said it's willing to make the moves into legitimizing social media news outlets. This is a move you're witnessing right here.

There are laws governing this, which I posted. There is also a big difference between allowing the media to report a story and allowing them to roam freely unrestricted in restricted areas and classified areas.

Yea that is crazy. I had a restricted area badge with escort privileges. Even military on a base are not allowed into restricted areas without a badge for that area. If you get caught in a restricted area with out it, they are not nice about it. Seen several military members get slammed to the ground and arrested.

I have TS//SCI//SAP clearance and visit PNT about once a month for meetings.
I’m still required to have an escort to even watch me take a piss.
Why should the media be exempted?

Even with a restricted area badge if you go over the red line without going through the ecp they can arrest you. It blows my mind that they just let the media roam freely in a restricted area with out an escort or badge. It blows my mind that they would even give them passes. I can guarantee you that they have never done that on any other military base i have been on.

Is our government willing to admit when something isn’t a good idea? Donald Trump has certainly shown the ability to adjust and change an approach when it doesn’t work, I wonder if we will see this here?
It’s one thing when all the organizations who don’t like you fight back, but when virtually every single news outlet sees this pledge as an overstep that won’t allow them to do their job, maybe the pentagon should listen?
Why should we care what a bunch of propaganda outlets say or do not say about this policy?

So state run news propaganda?
Posted on 10/15/25 at 10:49 am to Tiger1242
Or people that didnt think it was asking too much to abide by the laws in place.

once again you're just saying somethign without stating what your actual position on this is.
what specifically do you have a problem with in the new rules and why
Posted on 10/15/25 at 10:54 am to Sam Quint
Its actually not new rules. The laws have always been there. For whatever reason they have not enforced at the Pentagon for the press. They should have been fully enforced all along.

You're completely void of logical thought so you need to react like an emotional woman.

So everyone here is totally cool with the government having control over what the media can report? Alright
Maybe it’s YOU who needs to reconsider your position. I know it’s hard for leftist to do some self-reflection but you should try it, especially after considering other people’s perspectives

yeah, because the mainstream press certainly a reliable arbiter of what's right and what's wrong

We just going to gloss over the fact that every mainstream media outlet actively colluded with entrenched bureaucratic swamp scum to overthrow the duly-elected POTUS in 2020 and gleefully assisted in the gaslighting of the American people afterwards?
