I remember a classmate of mine got a “swirlie” from some older guys when we were around 11-12, guy got so fricking sick that the boys got expelled from school, so nobody ever tried that again.
Imagine being feverishly sick and all you can think about was how you got sick recalling the bacteria covered bits of fecal matter entering your facial orifices. I’d rather die honestly.

Your friends at the blue oyster bar can help you with that.

I’m 43 and I remember some crazy things. Not swirlies. But I remember in junior high a couple of kids taking another kid’s pants off and throwing them on the roof of the school. Taking a kid’s shoe off on the bus and playing football with it in the aisle.

I never actually knew of one happening, but with how disgusting our school bathrooms were, I’d have sworn a solemn blood oath on every person involved that I’d never rest until vengeance was mine.
Then I’d go home, cry in the shower, and beg my parents to move us across the country. You can’t come back from that.

I never saw it happen

There’s a swirlie and dirty swirlie. One is MUCH worse.
Both are terrible.
Both are terrible.

Never heard of one actually happening.

Swirlies were definitely a thing. Subjected a few shitheads to them
They deserved it.
They deserved it.

Never heard of a swirlie actually happening. Did know of an entire football team taking dumps in one toilet and not flushing. It was disgusting.

From what I remember, it's when you dunk someone's head in the toilet and flush it. Usually its dirty water.

Yes. There were a couple kids in elementary and junior high that got them. Kids are assholes. And there were a lot of assholes in the 80s who would go find the weakest and most social awkward kids and just abuse them. They're all probably mid-level supervisors these days.

Alrighty then. Found the a-hole.

In prison they call it "flushing a *brotha's* soul".

Definitely watched one happen on a Wednesday night at a youth church event of all places. Bullies were ruthless back in the day before cell phones and video recording. Kids can still suck, but was way more physical back in day compared to now I think.

I saw one in the high school locker room once but the kid lost a bet and honored it.
ETA:
“Clean” water though.
