Reading some of our founding documents and things just aren't adding up. I'm trying to approach this through a sociological lens, taking into consideration common opinions/beliefs at the time, but still...

Let's think about the concept of justice, which has been written about extensively by philosophers and political theorists alike since forever - how could the founders enshrine the concept of justice in our most sacred civic texts while also codifying objectively unjust practices?

The revolutionary claim that “all men are created equal” coexisted with the enslavement of millions, the Constitution’s call to “establish justice” was constrained by legal structures that codified inequality, and the Pledge’s promise of “justice for all” has never applied to those systematically excluded from full citizenship. Even celebrating "Independence Day" while slavery was a legal practice in this country is such a mindfrick.

Justice has never existed as an inherent right in this country, despite what our founders claimed. Justice has always been a privilege extended to those deemed worthy by prevailing social hierarchies of race, gender, and class.

Did the founders believe their own bullshite?

Everything is a manipulation for a cause. Some causes wreak havoc on a nation, other causes strengthen and move us forward united.

No, no they were not. But you certainly seem to be, at least on this nonsense.

The revolving door for repeat offender criminals of all races calls you a liar.

The "I know you are but what am I" rebuttal? Bold strategy.

I wish slavery had never happened in the United States.

Sounds like you are really on to something here.

Should change a lot of minds.

Their definition of what counted as “men” was different and flawed at the time.

The main idea remains the same: all men are created equal and Justice for all is a pursuit of our country.

You will never be in "perfect" physical shape.

So don't exercise or watch what you eat because it is an unachievable goal.

The Declaration of Independence with which you may, or may not, be familiar... omitted a little something from an earlier draft that speaks to your concerns.

quote:

The main omitted part of the Declaration of Independence was a 168-word passage written by Thomas Jefferson that condemned slavery and blamed King George III for the transatlantic slave trade. The passage was removed by the Second Continental Congress as a compromise to achieve a unanimous vote, due to opposition from delegates in Georgia, South Carolina, and some northern colonies who had financial interests in slavery

Next... read the Anti-Federalist Papers.

Lastly, find a society built upon measures more just than ours and move there.
