Danny Joe Browns voice is iconic. If you grew up in the south in the 70's 80's just hearing his voice now takes you back.

Saw them twice and they were so fricked up you could not tell which song they were playing.

They lost a lot of fans that way.

I saw them at the Wild Hog Boogie in the summer of '80. They played after the Doobies and ARS at the end of a crazy hot day. I really don't remember Hatchet. I found out later that someone threw a whisky bottle on stage, and it hit the drummer on the head. They left the stage.

I saw them with Triumph in Houston and Blackfoot in Dallas in the eighties.

Both were great shows!

I had tickets to see them with Ted Nugent, Billy Joel, and The Marshall Tucker Band in Tennessee in 1981. I got pulled over the night before the show. My car was impounded. The tickets were in the car. They were stolen.

Great band. I like most all their music.

Damn, I’m jealous. Two of my favorites. Never saw either one live.

Gator Country is great.

They have some kind of epic long ballad that is pretty good too.

Saw ‘em at the Texas Club circa 1985. Classic lineup. Blew the roof off. It was an awesome show.

Possibly. I immediately figured he meant this one…

Also, I agree with Big Scrub that Gator Country is fantastic.

Growing up in the south and in the late 70's early 80's we loved Molly. Sadly all the original members are long gone. They all died so young.

I can vouch for this statement.

Was this show in Little Rock or near there?

If you want to hear a severely criminally underrated Hatchet song, listen to Silent Reign of Heroes (from the album of the same name).

I've seen these guys a billon times; been good friends with Bobby Ingram for 30+ years.

It's like one of those skits from Sesame Street, where Big Bird has to pick out the one that doesn't belong.

Billy Joel definitely doesn't belong, but even Ted doesn't fit in with Molly Hatchet and Marshall Tucker Band.

Meh, at least it's guitar music. Ted had a few songs that fit right in with southern style rock too. Strangle Hold, Cat Scratch Fever, Wang Dang...
Original Skynyrd could have done Cat Scratch Fever and made it bad as hell.
