It is not a given that Nussmeier has 2 ridiculous INT’s every game

I am not a Nuss fan. Very few of us are. But to his credit, Nuss threw some incredible passes Saturday.

It’s obviously not Hilton’s fault that Nuss threw an INT close to the goal line, but if Hilton catches that pass earlier in the drive, that INT doesn’t happen.

If he cuts it to just one stupid INT a game (he will make stupid decisions), we could escape with 3 losses this year, maybe even 2 if things go our way.

Also how many times are we really gonna fumble on the goal line. Cynicism and Joe Sloan hate aside, I just don’t see that happening again.

This team will ride or die on the arm of Nussmeier. He doesn't even need to have this resurgence like Jayden did at Florida in 2022.

He just has to improve his decision making. Hit receivers that are open, move the chains to keep our defense off the field, and convert in the red zone.

If he does that and takes care of the football, and occasionally breaks off a run here and there, we will have a chance in every game we play.

The biggest question is can he do that?

The bigger question is…can the Oline finally start to gel.

If so, Nuss will have more time to survey things (even if only minimally so). If that happens, he will be more effective.

He was hit repeatedly Saturday night, but still played fairly well. The interception was TOTALLY on him. Yes, Sloan could have put it up for 14 so he could go get it. Instead, it was RPO and Nuss blanked on the safety (the guy HE is responsible for, and the guy that picked the pass). Otherwise, I thought that he played well considering the hits that he took.

THAT is copium.

“If” this, and then”if” that …. We could “escape” with 3 losses.

But I think you’re right ….. I have to admit, it’s veeeeery rare to see a football team fumble on the 1 yard line.

Yea, things are looking pretty good. Maybe CBK is not so bad after all.

I mean …. We COULD be Auburn. Right?

The picks that he's thrown this season have been downright retarded though

1. Underthrown deep shot vs tech
2. Retarded throw into the middle of the field across his body vs UF
3. Middle of the field throw into coverage vs Miss when there were other targets open
4. Overthrow to an open wr
5.. Terrible recognition of what the safety was and wasn't doing at the Goal line vs SC

The only time Nuss should know exactly where he's going pre-snap is when Trey'Dez is split out wide for a one-on-one jump ball. Nuss decided he was throwing to Trey'Dez based off the defender in front of him when the safety was the read the entire time.

Also, throwing a RPO slant at Trey'Dez' knees is like throwing a bounce pass to Shaq.

Put it up where only he can come down with it.

Nuss is incapable of not making stupid decisions against real competition. He may play well against Vandy, but Bama and A&M will most likely get multiple turnovers from him.

An overthrown reciever isn't that bad of an int tbh..its not a horrible read, or a horrible mistake, that pass was a ft too high, so it got picked off

Look at his numbers in SEC Play. He averages 2 turnovers a game. This is fact. The maddening thing about this is that he is capable of making the passes that you mention and still makes Bone Headed Plays as well.

A foot too high…the guy probably has a 40” vertical add in the receivers arm length and the foot on top of that he missed…you looking at 5-6ft too high.

Yea that one was inconsequential. 3rd and 12, out of fg range, instant pressure it sails a bit. Think they ended with the ball somewhere around the 25. That’s no biggie but the one from the 9 just can’t happen.

We have no run game, the o-line is pure unadulterated trash, and Nuss plays like he’s scared to death. He’s also good for 2-3 just mind bogglingly stupid plays a game. No team could overcome that
