People that keep trying to say things like Saban came from the midwest and north and so why shouldn't Kelly succeed really need to take a step back with this comparison.

Saban was not normal and cannot really be compared to many other coaches. Much like MJ was in the NBA, he wasn't just great naturally; he was great because, whether he was the most talented or least talented in the room, he was never going to be outworked. The guy was relentless and that is what separated him from others. Now, think back to his first year's at LSU and he was a young up and comer trying to prove himself.

That is nothing like Kelly right now when he came to LSU. Kelly came to LSU as a retirement plan with hopes that he would win a title, but puts in not even half the work effort if not even less than Saban would have put. Saban would not be out golfing the day after a game, especially not after they just lost. Kelly, on the other hand had no problem doing that after the Ole Miss loss.

That doesn't mean Kelly is not a good coach, but the guy is nothing close to Saban in any way, shape or form.

Les was also a guy that put it all out there. He had his stupid moments and his stubborness, but nobody was questioning his effort from 2005 - 2014.

Kelly simply is not that. I really think he thought LSU would recruit itself and that he would now just be able to out talent teams he struggled to beat while at ND. In reality, he's simply not the guy putting in the effort, and you see if watching the games. It's not about yelling at players (Saban/Muschamp/Kirby) every play. It's not about running around and being a hype guy all game, but actually showing you care and are involved throughout the game outside of when some major screw up happens would go a long way to make fans think you give a shite.

Wouldn’t even matter if it’s a good coach or not huh?

You are comparing Kelly to arguably the Greatest College Coach who ever lived.

I’m not a fan of Kelly… I wanted Kiffin …
but it’s really not fair to compare Kelly to Saban.

Saban was a Freak of Nature !!

When Saban was hired, many questioned it. Bc he lost to DiNardo in the Indy Bowl 45-24. He was replacing him and getting paid $1 mil to do it. A lot of fans were not happy and when LSU lost to UAB, they wanted him gone.

Majority of the fans wanted TCU coach Pat Sullivan. Saban was not adored until 2003 season. Many fans were upset that he left Mauck in a blowout win at Florida where he was injured and done for the season. Led to his infamous line " It's time to move on" after being asked many times why he allowed him to play when the game was essentially won.

Well, it was an off week, so no rush to get on to the next game. Even a coach should clear his head occasionally.

Comparing Kelly to Saban

Who is doing this? Everyone on the planet knows that Kelly is not Saban. I'm a Kelly hater but even I don't try and hold Kelly to the standard of the greatest college football coach that ever lived.

I am not the one comparing him. The ones arguing how Saban wasn't a "cultural fit" just like Kelly isn't are the ones comparing. They are 2 entirely different personalities and approaches to things. I am just pointing out that the fit question isn't just because he's a yankee.

Yes he was. He was also a complete a-hole, but got the job done so everyone took it.

You have this mixed up with Dinardo. Sullivan was actually agreed upon instead of Dinardo in ‘94, but his buyout was a problem. I remember Dennis Erickson being looked at in ‘99 after GD was fired, and a lot of people wanted him instead of Saban. Saban won the SEC championship in 2001 for the 1st time since ‘86 so I don’t see how he wasn’t adored until ‘03.

If by revered in a place of legendary status, sure, but most people were excited with Saban after we won the SEC and Sugar Bowl in the 2001 season. They were disappointed in 2002, but the injury to Mauck derailed that season, so people understood.

My point is that people try to compare them and they are not comparable at all. One is a schematic mastermind while the other is meh at that. One works his arse off 24/7/365 while coaching, the other takes plenty of days off. Both are asshats, but one has 7 NCs and the other has 0.

Saban was not a cultural fit. He rebuilt the culture and we are still benefiting from it.

Fans are ridicolus . If LSU beats Vanderbilt and Texas am we will probably be rank top 5 again.

Sarkisian everyone adored. Mastermind offensive Genius. Has a Hesiman type QB just like we thought.

He loses to Florida.

Why isn't anyone stating he is clueless.

We beat Florida and it should have been a worse beating

We loss one game to a good Ole miss team with a injured QB and had a chance to win in the 4th quarter.

Louisiana fans ( LSU) get their feelings into when the coach is considered an outsider.

Hate the man because he doen't fit your guy as a " LSU Coach'

Reminder, the guy you guys are stating can't coach, beat a Nick Saban Alabama football team when we had only 37 scholarship players that year.
