I hate when an episode of an otherwise good show is a dream sequence

Turns it into a throwaway episode. I’m watching through Ted Lasso for the first time and Season 2 episode 9 is like that. The Mr Robot episode where he’s in a tv show is like that. Unwatchable

Oh just wait for season 3

Its a stark contrast from the beauty of season 1 and is just bad.

gross, you should have stopped after season 1.

All of season 2 and 3 are unwatchable

A lot of people liked season 2 but I agree that anything after season 1 was not good. It’s kinda sad they are bringing it back.

Am i completely misremembering this? That being a scenario within the head of the character was not a surprise, especially given the entire premise of that show.

What about when it’s a whole season?

There are some great dream sequence episodes:

Dick Van Dyke - "The Gunslinger"

Mary Tyler Moore - "Mary's 3 Husbands" (I'm counting flash forwards)

Several Taxi episodes

Amen. I watched The Sopranos for the first time last year and the dream episodes were abysmal. But they are somehow praised on here and I get blasted for saying that.

Same with The Leftovers. The dream episodes are some of the favorites on this board, yet I borderline hated them.

And I really liked both shows.

Goliath had so many of these in seasons 1&2 it makes it almost unwatchable.

Clicked on this know this was going to be your comment I personally just am not a huge Sopranos fan so the dreams were just meh. Liked the show, but didn't watch it while it was airing and it was so hyped up it didn't live up to the hype.

Difference with The Leftovers is that the dreams made an impact on the overall story. By the end he went in knowing what he had to do in his dreams and remembered what happened in them as well. And you knew when he was in them instead of them trying to trick you into thinking it was reality.

I thought the Sopranos always did a good job with the dream sequences until Season 6 when Tony becomes a travelling salesman.

Agree the dream episodes in the Sopranos were by far my least favorite.
