Cancer immunity in a shot.

Scientists at the University of Florida have created a breakthrough mRNA cancer vaccine that erased deadly brain tumors in early human trials without chemo or radiation.

Tested on four glioblastoma patients, the vaccine reprogrammed their immune systems within 48 hours to attack the tumor.

Built from each patient’s own tumor cells and delivered via lipid nanoparticles, it showed success similar to earlier tests in mice and dogs. It is now moving into Phase 1 pediatric trials.

That's pretty neat... Hope the pediatric trials go well, too.

They need to find a cure for dementia/alzheimers before cancer.

did they first confirm there was even a brain in the patients before the trials?

We’ve all been to Gainesville, so it’s a valid question

I'm good with either one! Why not both?

well both would be fine but if you only cure cancer then that leaves dementia as next likely your way off the earth.

why? There is probably 5x the amount of deaths from cancer. And that’s including children.

There's no money in cures.

curing a disease that literally takes entire lives from children daily vs a disease that strikes in the twilight years of someone long life?

It’s stupid to debate this one way or another but it wouldn’t even be close if you had to choose one over the other

If I had a glioblastoma, I’d be willing to try it.

I hope this works. Lost my dad back in June from Glioblastoma. Diagnosed in April, gone in June. The one round of Chemo and Radiation just seemed to piss off the tumors. They were growing the entire time he was going through treatment according to the MRI done the week before he died.

uh yea, and if you cure cancer without curing demenita, there will then be 5x the number of deaths from dementia.

I'll take cancer all day everyday over Alzheimer's.

My Mom participated in a trial for an mRNA cancer vaccine before she passed. It shrunk some of her tumors. She was too far along for it to be curative but I’ve been hopeful someone would make this kind of breakthrough with the technology.
