This marks the seventh such recovery since a University of Houston student was found in the Brays Bayou on Sept. 15. In the five days after that student, Jade McKissic, was found, four other bodies were recovered from the Greens, White Oak, and Buffalo Bayous. An additional sixth body was found late at night on Sept. 25.
So far this year, 16 bodies have been found, including Wednesday’s recovery, according to police. Last year, 26 bodies were recovered from the bayous, according to Houston Mayor John Whitmire.
We need to give this killer a name like killers before him, The Night Stalker, BTK Killer, Jack the Ripper, etc…

I find it hard to believe, that in the surveillance state we live in (cameras everywhere, license plate readers, gps, cell phone pings, etc.) if anyone could successfully abduct 16 different people without being caught. This isn't 1979 anymore.

The Houston Police Department recovered a man’s body in the White Oak Bayou after a call came in earlier Wednesday morning reporting a suspected drowning individual, the seventh such death in the span of about a month. Investigators do not suspect foul play.
Did this guy just decide to go swimming?

Maybe they OD'd and fell in. If it was a serial killer, I'd expect the victims to have the same race, gender, or other commonality.

This leads me to ask, are there any prominent serial killers that killed across races more times than not? Like say a serial killer with 5 white women, 4 latinas, 3 black or anywhere in that sort of line of thing

Same thing was happening in Austin until it wasn't.
That is, people out drinking downtown ending up in the river. Online people saying serial killer. Cops say no.

Do they know it's a serial killer? Do serial killers usually strike that often? What's the typical annual number of bodies recovered from Houston bayous? 26 last year and 16 so far this year. In a metro area of nearly 7 million, is 16 an unexpected number? How many are going to ask yourself the questions or just be typical social media dufuses and jump on the "serial killer is loose" bandwagon?

Do you have any idea the number of cameras it would take to cover all the bayous there? With all the underbrush along them, it wouldn't be like cell phone towers, more likely you'd need two camera each block (one for each side of the ditch. and they aren't straight.

Generally not...for the known killers.
That said, there is really no way to catch a circumspect, methodical killer.

Lol, how many cameras do you think it would take to monitor the bayous of Houston?

One news source reported that the Houston area is “crisscrossed by about 1,700 miles of channels, creeks, and bayous” . That includes not just the main bayous but also creeks, drainage ditches, and various channels.
