Hodson was never in a funk like Nuss is in. Guidry was never going to overtake Hodson. He'd typically get a series in the first and second half, giving opponents a different look and a change of pace. Guidry could've started at the majority of other SEC schools. Was a solid player that complimented Hodson.

Let’s guess what the percentage of posters who know who Mickey Guidry is. I’m going with 4%.

This could’ve won us the ballgame at punk bitch old miss. I remember texas a&m did something similar to LSU a couple years ago and completely took the game away from us. Kelly is an arrogant, stubborn FOOL!

Difference is we knew exactly what we had with Guidry (lots of experience and a calming effect to the offense).

MVB is unknown in this goofy system we continue to run. I would like to see him get a series per half though.

I was a sophomore in HS when he threw a slider. Thought that crap was going to hit me. I bailed out looking like a fool.

No. Guidry actually got to play when Hodson struggled.

Yep.

The guy creating the game plan and calling the plays will be the same, so who knows if another QB can have success.

I'm not a fan of a 2-QB system, and I think Nuss can be a really good QB. But if the staff is not going to make adjustments to their on-field approach, which clearly isn't working, then the only other option is to change the personnel.

Not a chance. Mickey played every game.

Guidry played every third (maybe fourth) series of each half.

It was predetermined and stayed the same for every game. Tommy might have been on fire… but would take the predefined drive off.

Message was: gives Tommy a chance to absorb the game speed and watch the defense without the pressures.

Was a good approach and aligned with fans, media and the players. No controversy or Hodson looking over his shoulder.

Reminder: you could argue Tommy was best QB at LSU ever excluding Joe and Jaden.

HA! I'll see your Hodson/Guidry and raise you a Woodley/Ensminger!

In his sophomore year, he played in 11 of 12 games. That was the only year he came close to playing in every game.

1985 - 2 games - 5 passes - 0 rushes
1986 - 11 games - 46 passes - 8 rushes
1987 - 8 games - 43 passes - 7 rushes
1988 - 9 games - 43 passes - 7 rushes

Mickey Guidry was a year ahead of Hodson. VB is younger and new to the system.
