can Trump ban Illegal immigrants with a driver's license from operating on federal highways, and if pulled over, will have their license revoked, be handcuffed, car impounded, likely seized, and ICE will be called to come pick up the violator?

As of October 2025, 19 U.S. states issue driver's licenses or driving privilege cards to undocumented immigrants (also referred to as unauthorized or illegal immigrants). These documents are typically marked to indicate they are not valid for federal purposes, such as boarding domestic flights under REAL ID requirements. The states are:

California (Dem)
Colorado (Dem)
Connecticut (Dem)
Delaware (Dem)
Hawaii (Dem)
Illinois (Dem)
Maryland (Dem)
Massachusetts (Dem)
Minnesota (Dem)
Nevada (mostly Dem)
New Jersey (Dem)
New Mexico (Dem)
New York (Dem)
Oregon (Dem)
Rhode Island (Dem)
Utah (GOP) *WTF, Utah?
Vermont (Dem)
Virginia (Dem)
Washington (Dem)

PLUS - both Puerto Rico and D.C. give driver's license to illegal immigrants.

If boarding a flight is disallowed because the Fed controls the airports, shouldn't federal highways have this same distinction?

I like this approach... It'd be interesting to see how it works though since traffic control is a local/state level issue.

It being federal highway certainly opens it up to “interstate commerce” as an excuse.

That is a damn good call right there!! Now, I must get on the phone with my US Senators and US Congressman to let them know this must be done!!

Good work.

Absolutely... but do we have federal highway patrol? Maybe we need some.

Why would you have to ban them. let then run the roads and pull them over and send them back.

I'd rather hit them where it hurts in the budget over creating a bunch of new federal state patrol. That seems expensive and grows gov. Instead, why not use the same tactics that the feds used to push a 21 and up drinking laws back in the 1990s. They withheld transportation money until the states raised their age to 21. There is no federal drinking age. The state would be left to enforce the new standard. Same could occur with voter ID or drivers licenses. However, I'm not sure that we would want this power to be solely in the executive...think of a same type demand on guns when a leftwing POTUS is in office. I think we would probably need congressional involvement and that's going to be the catch. But if we had a good Congress, this type of pressure would be legally very hard to stop.

So is the internet, phone service, and banking. If these sanctuary cities dont want to be part of the US, let them live on their own for a few days and see how they like it.

How would it work? These state patrols likely wouldn't enforce these orders like they don't enforce all sorts of shite they are supposed to when it comes to illegals.

You would probably have to have federal officials policing the highways and would get into a pissing match with states like a lot of it does.

This move might end up spreading the feds a bit thin.

That is a separate issue, and the Mexicans are actually doing us a favor by removing otherwise landfill junk cars from our country.
