When I am in I-10 or I-20 in Texas I rarely see any Texas State Troopers and even rarely see anyone pulled over by them. When I cross into Louisiana I see State Troopers, Sheriffs and City Police and people are getting pulled over. Does this give Louisiana a bad reputation with travelers? To me it makes Louisiana look bad.

Drug interdiction mostly. I-10 and I-20 were historically heavily utilized to transport drugs east and money west.

On 49 near Washington one time, I saw Washington PD pulled over the one out of state plate out of a line of cars all going the same speed.

Just the opposite for me.

Anecdotal evidence is the case here.

Also have way more tickets from Texas Mountees than La ones despite only driving in Texas less than 3000 miles

Yes, and plate readers are all over I-10 & I-12 for good reason.
The 2 unmarked State boys that sit on I-12 westbound between Denham and BR can explain it better than me.

I agree 100%…I seldom see any police officers setting up speed traps and running radar anywhere in Mississippi. Every small town that has a police officer in Louisiana, also has a speed trap.

I spend a lot of time in Louisiana because it is home to me…however, this pisses me off.

It is like that in a lot of places.

I was doing 95 at about 2am one time on that lousy stretch of interstate between Mobile and Montgomery in Alabama and got pulled over. I thought for sure my happy Louisianan arse was going to jail. But the cop was cool...he ran my license, figured that I wasn't running drugs or carrying a dead body, told me to slow it down, and sent me on my way.

And not one shred of "white privilege guilt" eminated from my body...

They’d rather give speeding tickets over solving or preventing real crime.

In some jurisdictions, their motto is to “collect and serve” instead of to protect and serve.”

Some jurisdictions should come up with a discount if you pay your speeding fine at the time of issuing you a ticket. But they are liable to claw back any discount with a service fee for using a credit card.

This. Zero to do with drug running or safety. My gf from Arkansas couldn't believe how many pigs were on the side of the road to write tickets. It's fricking ridiculous and there should be laws against that. Nobody doing 10mph over is a threat to anyone.

95% of all crime committed involves a vehicle. Either going to the crime, leaving the scene or taking at the scene. Also a lot of crimes have been solved during traffic stops.

Btw Cops don’t prevent crime.
