Haven’t watched Blair Witch Project (1999) in 20+ years - does it hold up well?

I don’t care what anyone says. That movie scared the crap out of me. I watched this and went home to my folks house to spend the night. It was just me at the house, and we lived out in the country. I didn’t sleep at all that night.

What scared me was their internet site I thought was real. 1999 was so great.

I need to rewatch it. I always thought what they did was super clever, and the movie was done very well. That and scene in the corner was freaking creepy.

Also BWP2 was surprisingly good. Give it a watch

I was a kid when that came out. It wasn’t scary. It sucked

Yes. Very, actually. I watched it a year or two ago and it’s still great.

The late 90s was such an awesome time. Internet was new so there was an authenticity to it that lent itself to people to believe that TBWP could possibly be real found footage.

I watched it in the theater like one or two days before I found out it wasn’t real. But it’s just so overly well done and acted. And so fricking clever in how they never show the witch but you’re still terrified of her. And the whole thing with the making the kids stand in the corner, and at the end all we really see is Mike standing in the corner. Just so well done.

I went to the theater to see it and I couldn’t watch it because it made me super motion sick. I just sat there and listened to it while my sister watched. Still pretty creepy just to listen.

I worked at Tinseltown when this movie came out. So many people wanted their money back after the movie ended. One guy asked why he could not get his money back. It was the first movie to get business using the Internet to its advantage. One woman was sick bc of the shaky camera use.

Had to cut it off with about 25 minutes left

It is still a really cool experience

Very grungy and seems authentic. I was only 9 when this came out, but had older brothers. I watched it again later in HS and it was great

I'll never watch that stupid movie again. It was literally the worst movie I've ever watched. So if I was you I'd fire up The Dark and the Wicked.

Same. It's the only time I ever wanted my money back.

The way they marketed this movie when it came out was genius. Probably one of the best marketing campaigns for a movie I have ever witnessed

IDK about BWP, but Cloverfield is hard to watch a 2nd time. Even on TV. I think folks WANT it to be better than it is.

I've said this before but BWP's marketing campaign was fricking masterful. I can't think of a movie during my lifetime with marketing that was even half as effective.

I always loved the movie and think it’s a masterpiece. My worst fear in the world is to be lost in the woods with a nagging woman in my ear 24/7 while we’re possibly being hunted by a Witch.

In all seriousness I love how vague it is as to what is stalking them. Is it a witch? The serial killer that killed kids in the house? A possessed Josh ? That ugly old lady in the trailer with a bundle stick fence ?
