Rep. Cleo Fields bought thousands of dollars' worth of Oracle stock in the days before the Trump administration announced that the company would be playing a role in the pending U.S. spinoff of TikTok from Chinese company ByteDance, NOTUS reports.
quote:The news of Oracle's involvement with the TikTok deal was reported on Sept. 22, before Donald Trump signed an executive order on Sept. 25 announcing the plan to have a coalition of various American tech companies, including Oracle, which was founded by Trump ally Larry Ellison. The U.S. collective would hold a majority share in TikTok if the deal is approved.
According to a congressional financial disclosure document reviewed by the outlet on Wednesday, Fields, a Democrat, bought between $80,000 and $200,000 worth of Oracle shares across three different trades on Sept. 17, 18 and 23.

The Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act, or STOCK Act, says that members of Congress cannot use nonpublic information to inform personal financial decisions. It is not clear whether Fields knew about Oracle's potentially lucrative deal with TikTok.

Cleo truly is an oracle.
Oracle: An oracle is a person or thing considered to provide insight, wise counsel or prophetic predictions, most notably including precognition of the future.

This has got to be so easy to get around. If you don't leave any email or phone records, how will the feds prove anything?

Isn't a crime with members of congress. If it was, Nancy Pelosi would be serving 20 to life.

Boy that is a shock. I would never have though Cleo would be into something like that. Fine and upstanding man that he is.

Between 80k and 200k? Some great forensic accounting going on here. Also, while this is evidence of wrongdoing, these numbers dont even move the needle in DC.

That's insider trading is it not

Of course they both do but the democrats just do it better.
"Democrats politicians who traded stocks had an average return of 32.1%, compared to 26.1% for Republicans. Both parties outperformed the S&P 500, which returned 23.3%."

Other than Trump, they all are as crooked as they come.
The law should read:
Congress (including immediate family) are strictly prohibited from participating in the stock market while in office. The penalty is jail time.
The current law is a fricking joke abd a slap in the face to all of us.

There should be no confusion about how all these congressmen are worth millions despite receiving a salary of about $174,000 a year. They're all scum.

Damn.
With a Republican Governor and Republican Legislature, who in the hell would have promoted and approved a weird looking district tailor made for this crook to RETURN to Congress?

I'm sure this is just a happy coincidence. Mr. Fields is an honorable man.
