AI is going to further separate the haves from the have-nots. If the billionaires are smart they'll push for UBI, as the alternative won't be pretty.

I know this is a joke but there was an actual "AI" web design company that ended up not being AI at all but was actually a bunch of Indian programers on the backend, pumping out the websites.

It’s coming and will get better. Getting machines to do the jobs that people used to do is wonderful. That’s what happened when man domesticated horses to carry burdens that men used to carry; it’s what happened when men invented tractors to replace men driving oxen; it’s what happened when men invented computers to do jobs that men used to do. In my profession, we used to have rooms full of draftsmen drawing on boards and rooms full of blueline machines. Now we have a much smaller room full of draftsmen on computers.
In each of these cases massive amounts of jobs were eliminated and society got richer. Same will happen due to AI.

An attorney I worked with read a study last year where Brown University researchers were estimating that AI may eliminate the bulk of paralegal positions.

My issue with UBI is what about working middle class people who worked their butts off to get nice house, cars, etc? I think it’s bullshite if upper/lower middle class people are gonna be grouped up with the poors to get equal UBI if that ends up being the case.

Perhaps everyone should get the same UBI check. It’s a lower bound, not an upper bound.
