I know this thread probably won't last long, but this reason makes no sense to me.

quote:

The idea appears in John 14-16, where Jesus said at least three times in a prolonged address to His disciples the night before His crucifixion that they were to pray in His name. Jesus explained, among other matters, that the only way to access God the Father is by having a personal relationship with His Son (John 14:6). In that context,

I am praying to God since he is the one that grants prayers, not to be glib, but he won't listen unless I go through a middle man?

This thread is not a joke, I have wondered this for a long time.

You answered your own question. The Bible says so.

You don't know the relationship between God and Jesus?

I do, but I can't have my prayers answered unless I go through his son?

Jesus is cooler and less businesslike than his dad and is more likely to help your team win or your lotto tickets hit

Colossians 3:17 says, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord (Yashua) Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

Why not both.

Or in the case of us Catholics, all three. We start and end all prayers in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

John 14:6
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth* and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Why, exactly, would you want to pray differently to God than His Word says to?

I usually pray to the god of that selfish things I'm asking for.

God of victory, god of rain, or the god of patience with your family

So no access to God unless you go through his son, so if I don't use "Jesus Name' I really shouldn't bother praying at all?

All depends on what's in your heart. That's between you and God.

I know how you will answer this, but why does God require a two step process for his followers?

Again... why would you pray to a deity differently than how they wish to be prayed to?

You either believe or you don't... and if you believe, you'd want to follow God's Word.

There is no debate here.

And God said to Abraham; "You will kill your son Isaac." And Abraham said, "I can't hear You, you'll have to speak into the microphone." And God said, "I'm sorry, is this better? Check check... check. Jerry, pull the high end out, I'm still getting some hiss back here."

Why can't you answer questions posed to you?
