(My only hate is to have to pay them anything) -- but good riddance.

Roughly 100,000 federal workers who accepted a deferred-resignation offer from the Trump administration earlier this year have officially left the federal workforce.

Most of these people already wanted out or were retiring soon. Lots of feds cut by doge have been rehired though.

Cut first, then rehire only what is needed. Of course, they should be waterboarded to find out which party they hold an allegiance to.

Now add a hiring freeze and if an essential area has shortages, move the non-essentials around to do something of value.

The buyouts only lasted until 30 Sep....they were going to leave if the shutdown did or did not happen.

The shutdown is going to grow the debt and cost us more in the long run. They always do.

Why the Dems could not pass a clean CR and keep things open is beyond logic. They have painted themselves into a corner and will probably fold before the weekend.

I wonder why congress can't pass a budget? It's been decades since they last did so and CRs are the worst way to fund gov. Shutdowns are like leaving the house with all the lights on, the water running and heater on...you'll can't get back in to cut things off and you'll pay the bill down the road and still not have cut anything of substance.

This should get it back up to normal, and then some.

Yeah, I should have noted this was the 'retire by Oct 1st' and get a buyout (some amount) by the federal government.

This happens often in (large) private sector and is why I mentioned above -- "I hate we have to pay them anything"

But ... they gone... for good, unless they can come back as a contractor, consultant, or get hired on by a vendor to the government. I've assumed most have been RIP (Retired In Place) - doing very little during these past months.

Regardless, Thanks DOGE and Elon Musk !!

?? These people retired in April-June but have been being paid through Sept 31. Their retirement starts today or yesterday.

Meh, still saves a ton of coin in the long run. That's better than keeping Lafawnduh with the 4-inch nails on payroll to continue putting me on hold.
