What’s the draw of smoking Mary Jane every day nearly all day? (Moms gardening)

I dated someone who waked and baked every single day. She could not go more than two hours without hitting the bong several times. Could not or would not go anywhere without getting high first or on the way. Her apartment and car reeked. She claimed people could not even detect weed in the air because it smelled “earthy”.
Not sure how I got there but my current social media algorithm is nothing but moms who “garden“ all day every day. Just go with mom‘s gardening on social media if you want to see some trash.
I mean, I guess I get all the reasons. But just interested in y’all‘s comments.
I enjoy a good high now and again, but not every day and certainly not the majority of the day every day. Maybe twice a year at the most.

I used to know a couple people like this with alcohol. Couldnt do anything without having drinks or bringing a cooler. Usually wanted to meet up before and/or after for ‘drinks’. Softball, fishing, golf, going out…anything. It all involved drinking to the point the activity was not really the priority. They were alcoholics.

A guy I know does the wake and bake thing and every hour on the hour after that.
He's depressed as hell, can't get his business to get much traction and is always out of money.
I asked him if he's considered laying off the weed and he has no plans to.

All I know is, there’s nothing quite like starting your Saturday morning with some Mary Jane and coffee, while watching Premier League and College Gameday. And then whipping up some breakfast.

Yeah, I know exactly how it happened. I watched this one mom gardening for the entire video and then continued with her profile. All while shaking my head in disbelief. That started it. Now it’s like a train wreck. Ages range from early 20s to 50s. AACK.
And they get mad mad when the commentators judge them

You'll get all the pothead deflecting to alcohol and waying that same about people who drink, and it's likely true for the most part, except for one glaring difference.
People who smoke pot all the time stink like weed and it is not contained to just their person of car or house.
Alcoholics, unless your trying to make out with them you aren't going to usually smell their disgusting habit.
Now some will say you can smell alcoholics when they piss and shite themselves but that's an entirely different problem.
Weed is a low class habit and living in Baton Rouge I can see how it appeals to many residents.

Because, while not strictly speaking "addictive" like cocaine, meth, opiates, etc., some people just "take" to MJ and will use it to the exclusion of most other activities, doing the bare minimum (if that) personal hygiene, work, etc.
To be fair, people can be like that for many things that are superficially "fun". It's just that no real good can come out of heavy, chronic use of marijuana, IMHO.
