Asking OT docs. FNA biopsy scheduled.

So I have a node on my thyroid that was found incidentally due to a CT scan that revealed I have an elongated styloid process. The node is mildly suspicious (TI-RADS 3) so I need an ultrasound once a year to check on it.
There were some borderline enlarged lymph nodes with normal morphology that were favored reactive as well. Largest lymph node was 1.2cm long at Level 4.
I have my first ultrasound 6 months later and it shows similar lymph nodes and the nodule unchanged.
Zoom forward one year I have my first follow up ultrasound and the node is still the same. Only now the lymph nodes have enlarged to 3.2cm x 1.2cm x .8cm. What’s also interesting is this ultrasound says the same node was 2.2x.9 last year but the report from last year says the node on the ultrasound was unchanged from the CT scan that shows it was 1.2cm long. So I don’t get how that squares. Edited: this squares because the original CT and follow up ultra sound only had the axial long axis axial short axis. Not the total long axis. So it does appear that the lymph node did not change between May 24 and October 24 from CT to first ultrasound. It did grow 1cm (but shrank 1mm in short axis) in long axis from October ‘24-October ‘25. I basically had a super mild one day something the week before my scan. Like I felt a little shitty for a day then felt fine. So maybe it was enlarged due to that.
The lymph nodes on all scans have shown normal morphology and fatty hilum. So I’ve had a lymph node grow from 1.2cm long to about 1.5 times that since may of 2024.
My ENT wanted to wait and do a follow up scan in 3 months to see if she wants to do a biopsy but I basically insisted we do the biopsy immediately. No point to me in waiting especially if it comes back positive for something bad.
Anybody had an FNA biopsy before? I was asked if I want sedation but that seems excessive. I’m actually on anxiety meds because I constantly stress about my health so having a battle mentally with all of this right now. My SIL and FIL are a surgeon and NP who does robotic surgery and they both seem pretty confident that it’s not a big deal, but both recommend to do the biopsy to make sure.
ETA: TL/DR I am concerned about these growing lymph nodes in my neck. I know the thyroid nodule is not really a big deal most likely.

I won’t comment on my usage of illegal substances but the anxiety medicine has actually been a godsend. Feels like I have my life back. I feel normal day to day. It stopped night sweats, tossing and turning, sinking pit in my stomach,etc.. that I was dealing with daily. After a few weeks of 5mg of Lexapro all of that stopped and hasn’t returned. And now that I have this issue I am functioning way more normally while going through it.
I don’t really like that I’m medicated but I cannot argue with the fact that it worked and I haven’t had any side effects (yet).

I have spot on my thyroid. Was certain it was cancer but it's not.
While waiting on test results, I did some research. If you're gonna have cancer, thyroid cancer is what you want. Survivability is in the upper 90 percent of cases.
I hope you don't have it, because frick cancer. Prayers sent. Good luck.

I have had 3. I was never sedated. The just spray the area with some cold spray to numb it.

after decades of never giving my health a second thought, and always being in very good health, i had a bit of a scare about a year ago that threw me into a health anxiety tailspin. i'm mostly ok now, but still stress on occasion. i feel you on this.

I’ve had more than a few FNA biopsies into thyroid bed. Local anesthesia is all you need. I’m surprised they offered general. It’s weird because you can feel the actual tug in the surrounding tissues but you don’t feel the needle or biopsy.

My best bud's wife had thyroid "cancer" twice and it was totally eradicated. Thyroid cancer if it's th worst case scenario for you is the easiest form of the C to get rid of. You may go through a surgery at worst and some dye/radiation but youll be fine. This type of malignancy doesnt usually spread. Hope this helps. God speed. Chill, it will be okay.

Bruh its a little needle biopsy. They numb you with lidocaine and do it. Its very fast.
They could give you a valium maybe if you want. This is a nothingburger procedure
And at least 95% chance benign.
If positive note that papillary and follicular thyroid cancer are essentially all curable even if positive nodes.

I have had a biopsy of my thyroid and all they did was numb the area where they put the needle in. Wasn't that bad
