Hero performance by Ragin Cajun backup QB Lunch Windfield

10 mins ago I learned about the epic game Saturday in Lafayette. UL came back to win, I didn’t watch a second but it was fun watching the recap. Marshall scored at end of half, then first play of 2nd half. UL follows up with a pick 6 from Daniel Beale. All hope seems lost. Then 3rd string QB comes in and scores on 6 straight drives. UL wins in OT.

Found this game highlights from a field reporter. Watch if you want to see pure joy.

I have zero affiliation to UL, just like to root for all local teams.
“Lunch is beloved by his teammates and has been the team's biggest booster on the sidelines, some even calling him the Cajuns' Jameis Winston.
“He’s an incredible dude,” junior safety Collin Jacob said of Winfield. “He’s energetic, always positive. He’s never down, never negative. He’s always uplifting when he’s around the players and the coaches.”
“That’s just me, man,” Winfield said. “Every team needs that guy who’s going to pick everybody up. I don’t want to see anyone’s head down. I want everybody in their heart to believe. I said it every day, ‘Same goal, same vision.’”

Good thing because Beale is terrible. Desormeaux should be fired for continuing to let that scout team QB play each week

I think Lunch got a little dinged up Saturday night during his awesome performance. Good thing Cajuns have a weekend off before facing James Madison on the 11th.
That'll be a real test for him. Of course the guy calling the offensive plays for the Cajuns also needs to bring his A game...whatever that looks like.

They had the same number of attempts this game.
Beale - 0 TD 2 INT
Winfield 5 TD 0 INT

If he's good, he gone next season. Portal money says so.

Hopefully another team in Louisiana follows up on this soon before the season is shot

I went to the game for family day as my daughter (no pics) is a freshman this year. What a great end to the game. It was my first time in the stadium and was very surprised how much seating and suits that were there. Great time and a great game/weekend.

Need to go back to athletes sitting a year if they transfer. I can understand the NIL thing, and that train done left the station, but reinstating the sit out a year rule would help.

Lunch Winfield is an awesome name!
The Cajuns just need to find a Supper Winnsboro and a Breakfast Bunkie to complete their roster.

History states he's already on Houston's bench for the next 2 years.

Hope those players who left the Cajuns program to ride the bench at UofH are passing all their classes to get their degree.

Never got the hype behind Nuss. He can't run the ball, throws off his back foot, panics, and makes bonehead decisions. LSU can't run an offense with him, he's not John Elway. They need an athletic QB that is a threat to run that defenses have to scheme for, he 'ain't' it.

What happened to Walker Howard? Thought he was the starter when the season opened. Did he get injured or play so bad he got benched?

So would his NIL deal be referred to as "Lunch money"?
