People are still buying into the idea Nuss is hurt?

He's always played scared and has always sucked against good opponents.

He's never had a good deep ball.

He will have some streaks of playing really good ball, but what seems most likely to me is that the "yips" have totally taken him over. If he has to think about anything, LSU's offense is fricked.

If Jimbo Kelly wants to keep Nuss in, maybe they should just go fast tempo the entire game. The less thinking Nuss does, seems like the better he performs.

LOL, he isn't hurt. He lost his soul over the summer.

He also played 3 quarters and took unnecessary hits against Southeastern Louisiana University which would never happen if he was actually dealing with a real injury.

So your position is that he has gotten weaker? Something seems wrong physically. No?

Yes, it’s obvious and Kelly has even acknowledged it. He just claims it doesn’t impact his ability to play, which is false.

With that said, he still makes bad decisions also. Both things can be true, he is physically limited and can’t make throws he used to make, and he hasn’t improved on the other things either.

He absolutely wound up and uncorked on that deep ball yesterday and it went 52 yards in the air and was horribly underthrown

I don’t know if he is hurt or just terrible , but you absolutely should be looking at the other QB with this production. We have the worst offense in the SEC. It’s so weird how coaches can see that and still keep status quo

It seems pretty obvious that something is wrong and it’s not just the usual bad decisions.

He’s better on the run and when the line decides to actually create a pocket he won’t stay in it anyway. Get him outside his head by rolling him out on plays designed for it.

Doesn’t matter either way if he is hurt or not.

1. He really is hurt and can’t perform at the level he’s truly capable.
Take him out until he is healthy.

2. He isn’t hurt and he’s just not as good as expected.
Take him out and replace him with someone who can at least pick up yards with his feet and give the offense another look.

Not to me. The problem seems to be 100% mental.

I've seen him throw a few absolute heaters this year already. Not bombs down the field, but still some throws that had a whole lot of smoke on them. Those throws involve the same exact muscles 50 yard passes would involve.

He's never been a good downfield passer. He's just regressing.

That would compel a change. No?

I'd love to see a change. I wanted to see it yesterday.

In fact, here's a post of mine from yesterday;

quote:

I keep daydreaming of Monday's press conference where a reporter hopefully asks him a question framed like this; "The greatest college coach of all time switched QBs because his entrenched starter wasn't getting it done and the offense kept stalling, exactly like yours is doing. Did you consider making that same move that the greatest CFB in history did, or not?"

I do indeed think he’s still hurt. Even that first lucky touchdown yesterday was a flutter ball. I’ve seen his throws when he’s healthy so yes, I absolutely think he’s still hurt

Ha throws look much worse compared to last year.

If he’s not hurt, what’s that about?

I think he has a bad shoulder. IIRC he was on a “pitch” count in fall camp. I think the torso injury is BS. If you look back at his career he loved throwing deep to show off his arm. Most of his throws now are at the LOS. Either way he has thrown bad enough and made enough terrible decisions to at least see the bench for a few series. I also think he thinks too much of himself and checks out of plays and takes so long sometimes doing so he wastes a few TO’s a game. We have all seen BK yelling at him to run the damn play when he has wasted a TO. I personally don’t see “he is a coaches kid” in his play. I also never want another qb that refuses to use his legs to gain yards.

I’m not saying he is, and if he is, it certainly isn’t an excuse, but why is he so much worse?

If you don't think he's hurt, then you don't know much about ball flight and trajectory on a variety of different types of throws. He absolutely has been a poor decision maker over the course of time that he's played with erratic decision making being prominent.

But he didn't lose the ability to throw a laser. He has no zip on any perimeter ball and everything deep is underthrown. No, he's not a great deep ball thrower but he's consistently well short of his Target. It's not like he's being erratic with his downfield throws they are woefully short and he is clearly unable to compensate for that. His next deep ball after that terrible throw against Louisiana tech would have been overshot on future deep balls if he had the ability to.

Something is absolutely wrong with him and it's compounding and magnifying his existing weaknesses. To suggest otherwise just means you don't really know what you're looking at
