ANTIFA, which stands for "ANTI-FAscists" is akin to a guerilla organization in that it has no real formal structure (that I know of) other than local cells which communicate and coordinate with one another (and other groups, like BLM) as they choose.
Any funding for the group is likely done through crowd-sourcing to specific individuals or "causes" (but which aren't registered legal entities).
They are, essentially, for the idyllic socialist society and are willing to commit violence to achieve it. They wall themselves off into echo chambers to avoid anything which conflicts with their worldview.

they have been around for a long time. when i was in seattle, in the 90s, during the WTO protests, the antifa figs came up from their camps on oregon and started the riots, threw rocks at police, destroied store fronts. we all knew who they were, it was no secret.
