I’m gonna need a new car soon. The GH is big and has a third row, but it’s not too big. Fits most of my criteria, except it does not have an optional V6 with a tow package. But since I am old and no longer haul illegal immigrants across the border, I can live without that.

Also looking at a pimped out VW Atlas, but this vehicle seems popular with poors.

Advice welcome.

I don't understand why in the US our front wheel drive cars don't tow. Yet in Europe you see Camry's and tiny cars pulling full campers.

A family member of mine has a 2024 model. Three months in and the electronics went sideways, turns out it was the battery. Took the dealership three weeks to get the proper battery

I have never really looked into European/Aussie v US ratings for same vehicle. But they do have more diesel cars and some cool lightweight bigger campers (not just teardrops). But we have a good bit in the US now too so dunno.

Our Ascent is rated at 5000 and we’ve towed a substantial camper w two kids and three big dogs and loaded roof racks/boxes on both carr and camper and a hitch rack on the camper. cross country multiple times and over high CO passes. Gas mileage blows but was a breeze.

I rented a Suzuki Swift and it had a trailer hitch. It seems it's common to tow there. Ratings be dammed.

In laws have one. I like it a lot. We had a Highlander and wife wound up with a Telluride.

I personally preferred the GH.

Test Drive a telluride first. Rode in one the other day and I was impressed.

If the kia's solved the oil consumption issue they are nice.

We test drove the GH coming from a Sienna. I loved my Sienna.

Truth is I found the new Pilots more sporty and peppy and enjoyable to drive than the GH. They are the same size.

We ended up with a Odessey. We wanted a Sienna but no more V6 and hybrid only drove us away.

No pun intended

I just think they look hideous. Like a minivan screwed a hearse.

Yeah I've got my sienna and it's been well loved. At one point I said my next vehicle would be another one, but the issues you mentioned and price just turned me off.

I've really liked what I've seen with the Carnival, the seat configuration is super cool. It looks to me like a suburban in body style and doesn't feel minivan-y.

Had a Highlander before, loved it. Don't like the GH near as much (nor could I afford it.)

Hate the Santa Fe and palisade. They feel smaller and less roomy inside and drive like tanks.

Telluride felt MUCH more open inside, with tighter turns. If I could afford it, I'd probably get a telluride or carnival. Kia seems to have come a long long way from the crappy Sofia I had ages ago.

Just feels like way more bang for your buck.

Yes, 2024 hybrid XLE, Storm Cloud with roof racks.

Best vehicle we’ve ever owned with plenty of room. Definitely go with the bench instead of the club car seats.

Mainly drive city but have taken it off road in the redwoods and through streams, and camping half a dozen times.

Average 34 mpg and plenty of kick when needed.

Sound system isn’t great, but don’t really care that much.

Have put 18k miles on it since June of last year.

Friend has the atlas and has had too many problems.

ETA best I can describe is that it rides smooth like an Audi sedan but you feel you’re in a rugged SUV

Doesn't it come with a turbo 4 cylinder? Wife and I have discussed the GH, but I'm skeptical of that engine.

Wife has one. It’s awesome. Nice ride, lots of space, even has the capability of hauling a small trailer.
