I have never been it does not interest me

The two people I know went both said they liked it, thought it was really good but weren't blown away and wouldn't go back

Dakar being #6 while Saint Germain not being listed and Emeril's being 30 is pretty out of whack with local sentiment.

Again, I have not been to Dakar. So I can't say on them

But everyone I talk to locally expects that Emeril's and Saint Germain could both get 2 stars...it seems like the National sentiment might not be the same.

Dakar doing something very different might give them an edge

It is interesting and both are very good restaurants. But these lists/rankings are worthless click bait.

Find it really hard to fathom that Dakar is better than Le Bernardin. Not even sure it’s the 6th best restaurant on Magazine St.

I’ve always put more stock into it than James beard, which is the most overhyped, politically driven one out there, but they’ve taken a huge credibility hit in my eyes after this one. I’m surprised they didn’t throw Acamaya in there too.

My thought as well. Hell there is a restaurant about two blocks away that is better than Dakar.

Also, SingleThread, Le Bernardin, and Atelier Crenn are all on the world's top 100 list, but are behind Dakar? Doesn't make sense. I guess different judges but still silly and conflicting

How many of these places are truly better than Inn at Little Washington? How does one even rank these places. It’s silly.

Stuff like this just comes across as someone trying to make a stupid point, nothing more, nothing less.

It's very good and a memorable experience...but I recall the bill for 4 of us was pushing $1k with the tasting menu and wine pairings.

I think I'd rather go with the same group to Clancy's 2 or 3 times for that price instead of returning to Dakar.

I ate Locust this past weekend and had most of the items in that picture. It was very good, but not too 50 restaurants good.

We will be in NYC in December and plan to hit up Atomix and Junsik if we can get reservations.

Possibly. My two cents is that they stay at 1 star. Not sure I see any NOLA places getting 2 stars on initial release.

But back to OP topic, happy to see Emeril's and Dakar make the list. Kinda wild how local and national opinion seem to deviate. I've been putting Dakar off but I suppose I need to bite the bullet soon and check them out.

Michelin is now watered down with what places are getting stars. Someone in the South is getting 2. Considering Emeril was the primary lobbier for them to come it’s a good chance they get more than 1.

SG I agree gets 1.

LA Barbecue in Austin got a star. Saint Germain should certainly get one.
