The real question is does he start against the Giants?

Poor fricking Rattler…. im losing my patience with the vanilla blah blah answers from Kellen Moore. He speaks but says nothing. If he doesn’t start sitting players who aren’t performing then he is a coward coach. Give me an alpha male like Dan Campbell .

If they loser 3-4 more in a row, then talk will start about Rattler maybe tying the record for consecutive losses as a starter (15, I think), and that will become a distraction.
At that point, the team will look at starting Shough in a home game, against a non-elite team. They’ll want to see what they have.
And if they are winless going into Charlotte and lose to the Panthers, that puts them at 0-10. At that point, they should give Shough and some other backups a shot.

I have long said, before they even announced starters, that Rattler would start 1-4 and they would start Shough in games 5-6. The only next logical place to start him is after the Bye.

However...KM is painting himself into a corner with his comments, I don't see how he can start Shough next week given them

I'll tell you what I don't want to see, a rookie QB get sent out there for the first time against the Bills and completely destroy his confidence off the rip. I also don't fully believe the move at QB will be a huge catalyst for change.

I think he won 1 game …but he did it with some balls. Not some generic coward speak like Moore

To be fair, the lost @ Seattle went well beyond Rattler. He was decent vs. SF and ok vs. Arizona. So I don't know if changing the QB now, particularly ahead of a road game against one of the best teams in the NFL really does anything for your other than satisfy a blood lust to change the QB. The earliest I'd see a change being made would be next week vs. NYG at home given they would be starting a rookie QB as well.

As far as Moore is concerned, I too have my doubts at the moment. The Saints were never going to be good team this year. But they look worse than I think even most expected. The penalties and just dumb breakdowns are awful. Moore, himself looks uncomfortable and nervous at all times...that probably doesn't instill much confidence in the players.

With this roster, there really isn’t any easy way to ease Shough in. I get the sentiment but it’s going to be baptism by fire whether it’s buffalo or the giants

If Rattler was the reason they're losing then you make that change. He's not. The defense, special teams and coaching have sucked way more than Rattler.

The Saints FO and coaching staff know they aren’t winning much this year and likely next year as well.
But through the draft and time in clearing the cap, the roster will get better by 2027/2028.
I don’t think our next franchise QB is on the roster

Absolute truth. If Shough does get in it's going to be a rude awakening.

I just don't understand why you would spend a 2nd round pick on a QB if by the end of year 1 you have no idea if it was a good pick. Not saying I think Shough is the guy, but we have to get him out there soon, because it take a few years sometimes to max out your potential. If you don't play him this year much, then after next year you still may not know if he is your guy.

Why wouldn’t he? He’s not the reason Saints are 0-3.

Shough very likely isnt ready, and may never be ready. Im sure theyll get him out there eventually, but i really dont think he is better than rattler, sadly
