HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

***catches breath***

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

quote:

The cost took the industry by surprise with many outlets wrongly claiming that $180 million was spent on the show. Two experts who got it right were news site That Park Place and entertainment industry pundit Valliant Renegade with the latter also noting that the show’s production costs were likely to soar even higher. This was bang on the money.
BOOM!

quote:

They show that the cost of making the series hit a total of £190.8 million which comes to $256.7 million at today’s rates. In contrast, if the conversion is calculated at the date of each set of filings it comes to $230.8 million

However, as this report revealed, in early April 2023, when production was still in full swing, just 30% of the 695 employees were female and across the entire workforce, women's average hourly pay was 19.4% lower than men's. It is the height of irony given the role that the diversity on screen played in the curtain coming down on the show.

It was stated by a couple sources, as mentioned in the article

But the shill apparatus repeatedly "debunked" the figure by touting the 180 figure/ Everyone that suggested it was over budget were essentially called liars

These are the newest numbers:

quote:

The Acolyte was released just over eight months after the date of last year's filings but the latest set cover that period and the following four months to September 24, 2024.
So many vindicated neckbeards

These budgets are out of control. This was a basic looking show with unknown actors. What the heck cost so much?

Ill pay you 50 mil to do laundry on set but you give me half back and then i write the 50 off as expenses. You pay 37% on your 50 mil and keep 6 mil for doing laundry.

Proof Disney SW was destroyed by an aging talentless white woman.

Forbes' Caroline Reid, That Park Place and Valiant Renegade have done a ton of work to bring Disney's budget excesses to light.

To be fair, Kenobi was utter trash.

AND, while The Acolyte was terrible and represents so much of what is wrong with modern “hip” writing (strong independent woman, heroes are bad, evil is just misunderstood, white men are all weak and cowardly, etc),

Kenobi had that too, in addition to Scooby Do level action scenes. Someone actually thought it was a good idea to do the 2 people in a trench coat gag. Baby Leia was smarter and more competent than the guy who defeated Darth Vader.

I can see an argument that it is the worst show of the Disney era.

What were the final numbers for cost vs box/streaming?

I think 90% of people said it would lose a hundred million and a certain few said it was make it back after streaming.

Obi Wan was bad because they decided to make the new black female a huge character in an obi wan and Vader show, among other things

But, it did have a couple good Vader scenes that elevate it above the worthless pile of shite that is the Acolyte

How does it "make it back after streaming"? Disney taking money out of one pocket and putting into another isn't actually "making" money. Especially, when D+ is losing money.

Now, they'll be able to hide some of that by combining all streaming with Hulu, but it's still losing money.
