Spoofed phone calls

I get a bit tired of having my number spoofed by some scam artist in Bangladesh and the low intelligence people that call me saying they had a missed call from my number. When you try to explain to them that you didn't call but it was likely a spoofed number, some of these morons will argue with you.

The new Apple update seems to help with some of this

Quit answering phone calls from numbers you don’t know

That's when you just start singing The Battle Hymn of the Republic or make fart noises until they hang up.

I do for the most part when it isn't local but I need to take calls around here for various purposes.

just dump calls not in your contacts to voicemail.
You'll never miss anything, if it's important they will leave a voicemail.

If a number doesn't pop up with a name that I have programmed in my phone, I don't answer it. I'm at an age where I do get calls from doctors about appointments, and if that is the case, they will leave a voice mail or text me about the appointment.
I can go for days and not make, or receive a phone call, and that suits me just fine.

Hell, I've got spam calls from my own damn phone number before. I spent hours trying to convince myself it was scammers and criminal scum and I wasn't contacting myself from another dimension.
The first part is true. For a stretch there a few years back I would get calls every couple of days from my own number.

That happened to me a couple of times maybe a decade ago. I was so damned confused.

They tend to get pissed when, after they have introduced themselves as "Sean" or "Kevin," I call them out and ask them why they don't use their real name - "Mowgli."
When it comes to spammers and spoofed numbers, the Hindus are worse than the Dindus.

Because your phone doesn’t work half the time?

Out of the box it automatically filters spam calls out and silences them. There are other settings that you can turn on that require numbers you don’t know to state why they’re calling and show up as message like a text bubble.

They leave voicemail too. They’ve rendered my mailbox unusable.

I have received EIGHT spam calls so far today. No idea what's going on, but it's getting increasingly worse.

My phone (Droid) usually says "Spam" or "Possible Spam" but today it flat out said "Telemarketer"
