Rewatching the ole Miss game from last year

The talent we have on defense was truly night and day from what we had a year ago. That’s some master coaching and adjustments from Blake baker to hold that offense to 23.
The safety play and run defense was so bad Cayden Lee was abusing sage Ryan and Tre Harris was torching stamps in that first half. Moving zy onto Tre in half 2 till he got hurt and whit weeks plus the edge rushers playing like madmen won us that game.
Offensively wasn’t much better either but boy did nuss nut up late in the game and make some big time throws. Might’ve been the grittiest win of the Bk Era that ole Miss team was prob better than us on paper and we found a way to win.

Ole Miss was the better team, flat out stole that one. I don’t think that’s the case this year.

Objectively, that's probably a game Ole Miss feels they should have won. They had chances to deliver a knockout blow early and didn't while LSU had its usual ineffective and slow start offensively under Sloan. After falling behind LSU realized the middle of the field was open for attack in the passing game. As you said, the defense adjusted and the offense (though settling for FGs) did just enough to hang around util the end for Nussmeier and the offense to generate a clutch drive. By OT the crowd overwhelmed OM and helped carry LSU to a win.
You feel like going into this weekend the LSU defense is some much better talent-wise than last year's group. Unfortunately, the offensive approach is the same, often stagnant and inefficient approach from last year.
Kiffin is a good play caller and it's likely he will draw up to potential for big plays. But you feel so much more confident this won't be a game where the defense needs a little luck to hang around. If this offense can get out of its own way you like LSU's chances...but that is a BIG "if" right now.

It was on ESPNU about a month or two ago and I found myself watching it again. I was there in the stadium. TS fans willed LSU to victory on this one. No doubt Ole Miss was the better team, and had sooo many missed opportunities to score, but LSU just kept hanging around. And yes, Nuss got it going late finally to seal the deal.

It absolutely was a top 2 grittiest win under BK, with the Alabama win with JD, as the grittiest.
Ole Miss wasn’t probably better than us on paper, they were flat out significantly better than us in every way. Last year was the first time I’ve seen an Ole Miss team that was bigger, faster, stronger, & more talented than LSU since the 2008 season.
Last year was a master class coaching job by BK and just a horribly coached game by Kiffen. Ole Miss should have won last years game by double digits, but they didn’t.

Wasn’t Tre Harris out for that game?

This is revisionist history.
Tre Harris, the best WR in the conference, dropped a wide open TD pass on our first drive, and our very talented kicker missed a 32-yarder.

Harris had 7 catches for over 100 yards

He played the first half and had over 100 yards. Got hurt in the 3rd quarter

Wholeheartedly agree. They flat out had better athletes and players than us last year it was evident from the first snap when Tre Harris burned stamps deep effortlessly to start the game but simply dropped the ball.

One of the best games I've ever attended. The crowd didn't stop bruh. We were loud as fvck even when they were in the huddle.

No doubt, they were the better team as far as talent goes, I think one could make the argument that on pure talent relative to their peers it's the best team Ole Miss ever fielded.
But while I'd contend Kiffin is one of the best offensive coordinators in football he's nowhere near the best coach and at least part of the reason they lost games like this one, kentucky and Florida last year.

Exactly, they will have to show us, it's in there I do think, but one needs to see it a bit more consistently.

One of the more electric Tiger Stadium atmospheres in my memory! The chants and stuff (especially during tv timeouts) were off the chain.

What if LSU breaks Ole Miss like we did Clemson? That would be hilarious.

As Kiff said best money could buy.

Lane Kiffin choked that game away
He gets a pass for his terrible coaching at times. He whiffed last year with a great team.

If the offense is merely competent we should win.
