Saban and Arnparger won exactly 75% of their games as HC at LSU.
Through his first 44 games, Brian Kelly has also won exactly 75% of his games.
For reference, Les Miles won 77%, Orgeron 71.8%, and Chollie Mac 68.2%

So none of them are Mike Archer. Whew.

That may explain 3 of his 11 years.

Les was at LSU for 10 or 11 years. 2011 he went 12-0 and lost the NC. That was 6 years after Saban had left.
Say what you want about Miles, but he did a good job for many years, just too stubborn.

And Kelly,……absolutely did not.

BK will be judged on one thing only. Winning it all. That's it.

Apparently also inherited a gold mine of extending eligibility to make Saban s players last 11 years.

The point is not that he was winning with Saban's players, it's that his record was not tarnished during a rebuild.

from what I remember he hated recruiting and went back to the NFL. I am guessing our recruiting suffered.

This is often the belief around here but I’d say that while he may not have liked to recruit, he was pretty good at it. His team in 87 that was coached by archer could have won the natty imo
Also, he didn’t go back to NFL from LSU. He went to be AD at Florida

Saban only won 75% of games at LSU. Seriously doubt that.

I may be misreading what you are saying but Kelly inherited a team that almost had to cancel a bowl game against Kansas State due to a lack of scholarship players.
I love Coach O for 2019 and always will, but he left LSU in a terrible position.

The Dinardo era was not that bad.

He was a really good recruiter; you may be thinking of Archer, who was not a good recruiter, though he was a good coach, contrary to popular opinion here. Archer was just too young, IMO, and it killed what looked to be a promising career.
Archer was the hot young DC at the time.
