RB only stats against SLU

Ju’Juan Johnson: 8-43
Durham : 7-17
Berry : 7-28

Help me understand the confidence in this offense in being able to run the football against SEC DL?

If there ever was a game to impose your will on a team and run successful it was the SLU game. Based on the number of attempts, LSU tried but just can’t against this FCS opponent.

durham could have have 50+ yards easily.

the broadcast was right, he's cutting back way to early

I'd be surprised if we ran the ball well in any game this season other than getting lucky on a really long run once to make the average look good (like say 30 carries 175 yards; but we snuck a 60 yard run in there). Durham has regressed recently and the OL still cant seem to block well enough overall to have an effective ground game.

We've been under 4ypc in every game so far this year.

Keep in mind we had a 43 and 48 yard run on LT, and ran for 37 yards on 32 carries outside of that (not a typo)

We also had 51 yard run on Florida, and ran for 45 yards on 24 carries outside of that

We cant run the ball once again, pretty obvious through 4 games

And what's scary is against clemson and la tech, the cut backs were there. It depends on the dline trying to penetrate. Clemson trying to get up field opened back cut runs. Other teams where they just stay on block/ gap, have to stay with the lane. Issue is its vision...each run changes and rb have to see and feel it. Last year his big runs were the cutbacks.

Think some people prefer LSU to lose so they can blame the coach they don't like, rather than hope we win. It's crazy that they call themselves LSU fans

Retarded take, we were never trying to “pound the rock” We all watched the game. Nuss threw is 31 times and MVB threw it 12 times. Our passing game looked great and will keep opening our run game once defenses respect Nuss

One is not like the other… and he is our #1RB.

BTW. If you want to see a good running game watch Ole Miss. Kiffin has had the top run game in the SEC since he has been here. People think he is great with the pass but he is tops with the run.

Hoping we shut them down though!

We had 22 carries for 102 yards against Florida before running out the clock. Durham had a 51 yard carry. So, we had 21 carries for 51 yards against Florida before Durham’s long run at the end.

Games like this weekend tend to tell a truer story about teams. We will know a lot more about LSU and Ole Miss after Saturday.

You know whats an easy fix with this? Coaching up the running backs on mis-reads. Durham has been excellent at feeling out blocks and cut backs. However, he has missed a good amount the last few weeks. That is an easy fix.

There is so much more context missing than just "we cannot run the ball look at the numbers." There have been times where the offensive line has missed blocks or assignments. But there has also been times where the running back has missed the hole.

From what I can tell the offense is going to be changing their approach offensively. I am more concerned with our terrible script (first 15 plays) to start the game the last 3 games. I would expect this to be better. From what I can gather the team is going to be throwing the ball a lot more early to setup the run later in the game.

Are you talking about Ole Miss? Bc idk if we can qualify them as an “SEC DL” even though they play in the SEC. Think LSU 2023 defense.

I am not confident we can run the ball against Bama, Vandy, OU.

Ole Miss, SC, A&M shouldn’t be that challenging

This can be fixed but the player has to be patient and trust his coaches and the plan. Not HS - you cant run everyone over.

On running plays, they had 155 yard or so. Without sacks, the rushing game averaged over 4.6 ypc.

JuJuan and Kaleb are our only RBs that will run the play where it is designed to be ran more often than not. OL has been bad, but Durham takes some of the blame when he's not taking the easy yards on the plays that the OL actually blocks well. Clear lack of trust on Durham's part, which is fair, but we'll be a better team running the ball if we'd run behind our blockers and put some trust in them even if it gets us stuffed at times. All the cutting back puts our already struggling OL way out of position way too often.

That's why I love Thomas moving in from WR and running. He's a returner and has experience and vision looking at blocks developing and hitting the right hole.

The offensive line just isn’t dominating.
