By how much my dog tries to keep me calm.
As I read work emails, after the first “are you fricking kidding me,” I utter, my dog crawls into my lap (not a small dog) and starts nuzzling me to stop paying attention to my computer.
She thinks my computer is bad for me (she’s not wrong.) Now she’s sleeping in my lap and my attempt to work tonight’s has been successfully thwarted.

I have to keep mine calm when the neighbors have the nerve to cut the grass.

Oh, it’s bilateral. The garbage truck is evil and must be destroyed for example.

My ex wife's dogs were the opposite, with random barking and shite that set me on edge.
Your dog is why we're obsessed with dogs.

Dog was probably just tired of hearing your arse complain.

Definitely man’s best friend

Don’t get me wrong. She’s the light of my life, but she’s extremely excitable and not the best behaved (her latest thing is jumping 5 feet into the air to try and lick people’s faces). Still a lot of training to do.
But it shows how much she cares that she tries so hard to be really an emotional support dog to me. Thing is it works.

True, I can’t help but think she thinks, “if he goes crazy, I’m screwed,”

I think it’s Pavlovian. Your dog has heard you say this enough times that she thinks you’re calling her for some ear scratches

Well, I’m stuck on the couch as she’s passed out on me

You suck the simple joy out of things. But likely right.

I didn’t want a dog Five years ago my wife shows up with a GoldenDoodle puppy. I said “. Hell No”. As I’m typing this he’s in bed with us sleeping on my leg. He’s a good boy even at 95 lbs

Lesson learning in progress, you will end up preferring the company of dogs instead of people.

That’s a giant golden doodle lol. I know many and most are 50-70 pounds. If my dog was any bigger than her 50 pounds, I couldn’t handle her.
I have noticed if I don’t let her sleep with me in “her” bed, she gets gets mad and gives me dirty looks. Like at 9 o clock, if the door to my bed room isn’t open, she starts prancing outside of it expectantly for me to let her in. Brat

He comes and checks on me every hour.
I’m cleaning out my garage

I’m generally fairly stoic when it comes to my reactions to things, so my dog and I are currently adjusting to each other during our first LSU football season together. Poor guy doesn’t know whether to shuggle up to me or keep his distance on the couch. It’s actually getting me to react less strongly because it makes me feel bad when it startles him
