I’m 44 and drinking my coffee this morning reflecting about how fast the last few years have flown by. And here we are barreling towards Christmas and the end of the year again. I try to enjoy every day but sometimes I wish I could tap the brakes a little.

Right there with you. The wife (no pics) were just talking over our coffee about that. Our youngest daughter (again no pics) is getting married in 2 weeks.
Seems like yesterday we were [insert one of 1,000’s of memories]

The older you get, the faster it goes. So it seems.

Yeah and it’s already week 4 of football season…..!!!

Honestly, I have to take down the kids playhouse bc it’s old and unsafe. It’s kinda sad I’m we’re at that stage.

I have 3 teens going to homecoming this evening. It seems like yesterday that I was going to homecoming myself.

A year felt like eternity until I was around 20 years old. Now it feels like a month went by.

You know when time really flies? Football tailgates. You can get there 5 hours before the game and still feel like you are late. Time flies when you are having a blast.

It’s like water circling a toilet drain. Gets faster and faster as you get closer to the end.

Took decision to retire end of year. Time has become more important than money. Not sick, healthy / ambulatory parents, etc.

Why? Because Jan - Apr turned to dust. Can’t remember living them. Work has a way of destroying time for fleeting outcomes that inevitably will change and create more fleeting work while killing hours.

Enough. My attempt to tap the brakes has begun.

Hear your point loud and clear!

This summer dragged on as usual. But overall you’re right. Time does fly.

I did so as well. Like I told a bunch of guys just last night you can always think of a thousand reasons not to retire…very few of them are valid.

I have never had anyone tell me on their deathbed that their one regret is they wish they had worked longer.

I’m actually sitting doing the same thing. My son is now 15 and have no clue how that happened.

I was told an expression a long time ago when I was young. It never made sense until I’m older.

The days are long, but the years are short. That expression makes more sense every day.

I think the M-F rut contributes to it. Just trying to get through the week and looking forward to the weekend. And I think it’s true even for people who really enjoy their jobs.

It gets worse.

Years feel like months used to feel.
