“And I gotta say, that’s right out of Goodfellas,” Cruz said, referring to the classic mob film.
“That’s right out of a mafioso coming into a bar going, ‘Nice bar you have here, it’d be a shame if something happened to it.’”
Cruz noted that he was no fan of Kimmel’s, and said he is “thrilled that he was fired” over his comments about Kirk.
“But let me tell you, if the government gets in the business of saying we don’t say what you the media have said, we’re going to ban you from the airwaves if you don’t say what we like, that will end up bad for conservatives.,” Cruz said.
Kimmel, who has been suspended but not fired, said in his opening monologue Monday night that “the MAGA gang” is “desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

He’s not wrong. And I say that as one who has had a perpetual erection since Kimmel’s firing.

Except the government didn't do this. The market dictated it.
When Joe's Plumbing and Todd's Car Dealership said they were cancelling their ads, the ABC affiliates dropped the show. That's how business works.

I get what he's trying to do. I'm still going to like Ted Cruz over the long haul.
But, there must be an admission this was a business decision and it is only the timing they are choosing makes this political.
For that matter, Kimmel could have been apolitical. Or attacked both sides. Or kept his fricking mouth shut until Charlie was in the ground.
Kimmel and ABC chose now to try to hurt Trump.
Period.

No, no they didn’t….and the “light IQ” nitwits pushing their mental capacity to the limits in every effort to strain to make that case are going to stroke out before connecting the dots.

Didn’t Sinclair fire Kimmel?

Exactly

No he's not. How much shite has Donald Trump taken over the time he's been in office (both terms) and NEVER had the FCC say a thing? The very fact ABC let him stand up there and say the things he did put their company and brand in dire jeopardy. Knowing the reach Charlie had and seeing the vile shite people posted on the internet that they got fired over, really left ABC with no choice.
The only part the FCC played in it was telling ABC/Disney they need to cull their nuts.

Kimmel hasn’t even been fired.

I thought this was over a merger that emphasizes both viewpoints must be represented under FCC?
Also his ratings suck and flyover America doesn't like dnc politics everywhere.

More like the police going to the mafia and saying knock off the drug dealing near the school or we’ll put all our resources into shutting your entire enterprise down.
Kimmel was a lying propagandist and has been spreading biased bullshite for decades. frick him and frick anyone who tries to malign what he does on public airwaves with “free speech”

Did the government threaten his bosses if they didn’t deal with him?

Here is what some of you are missing. Those of us saying Cruz is right are not saying he was fired because of government intervention. I believe 100% that this was a market driven decision. But the government having its voice in the mix muddies the waters and gives them opportunity to claim Kimmel as a free speech martyr.

Hey Ted. How about stop passing CRs then you can worry about the FCC.
