What was the story with him getting pulled off the air? Freedom of speech and whatnot?

Something about blacks being genetically bred to be good at sports.

Compared physical differences between blacks and whites. Said blacks were faster and jumped better because.....

Cosell commenting on Alvin Garrett of the Redskins on a Monday Night game said, "look at that little monkey go."
Jimmy the Greek said that during the slavery days that blacks were bred to be big, strong and fast. So better than whites.

He said it in a pretty crude way but they knew he was a bookie and lowlevel mobster when they hired him.
The biggest bucks were bred to the biggest nannies or something along those lines. How he said it was a lot worse than what he said.

I remember it very well.
JTG said black men were had better genes when it came to sports. So he was branded a racist and removed.

It was Jimmy the Greek, He said something racist on the air during a football game.

In January 1988, sports commentator Jimmy "the Greek" Snyder was fired by CBS for making racist comments during a televised interview. The remarks focused on Black athletes, claiming they were "bred" for sports during slavery and that Black people were taking over sports jobs that had traditionally gone to white people.

Didn’t Costello say something along the the lines of “That little monkey gets loose, doesn't he?‘

He said at a restaurant or something I think??? that blacks are faster because of a difference in the leg muscles or something like that.
Right are wrong (on the anatomy) it wasn't racist. It was just pointing out a biological difference.

Yeah I don't think he'd be fired today. He didn't deserve to be fired back then.

It is incredible that people can say anything they want about a white man without fear of losing anything.

What he stated was 100% true. It wasn't acceptable, as these things "should not be talked about".
