Oh and where is 1984 set?

The largest city in England. London.

Orwell got it right on the nose.

not if they're making a threat to shoot up a school or assassinate a president.

I get his point, but the U.S. is not arresting people for online comments. People are losing their jobs and being publicly shamed. Freedom of speech protects you from arrest. You can be fired from your job or expelled from school, depending on the circumstances. You are still accountable for your actions. Consequences.

While I agree, what was said with those 50 arrested?

Did they cross the line trying to incite some shite?

No, you don't have freedom of speech in the UK. You also surrendered your guns to the government so that shite is on you.

The COVID plandemic should make people realize how fragile the freedoms we have in the US are.

Congress shall make no law (unless you cross the line and try to start some shite )respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Comparing us to Europe or comparing us to ourselves 120 years ago? Americans from that time period would think we sold out.

Thanks for the history lesson... The question I had was, why were these people arrested, who arrested them, and what was posted that they were arrested.

There's some information being left out in this post...

Sorry you didn't get that....

You can't go on line making threats to people, if that's what was posted, and not be free from consequences.

Most likely, a direct threat of violence, which is a felony: assault.

My point is, agree with it or not, it says "no law"

the first step is to disarm the population. Something one half of this country wants to do. We all know why.
