Moore should also sit. That may already be assumed.

If the injury is severe enough to (allegedly) totally impair the approach and function of the offense, and the only way to heal it is with rest, then he needs to sit this weekend in order to maximize his (and by extension, the offense's) effectiveness vs. Ole Miss. Otherwise, if he plays vs SLU, we'll know it was a BS excuse from BK (at least as to the severity of the injury) thrown out after he was called out for his team's poor offensive performance to date.

Starting Van Buren also has the added effect of making Ole Miss waste practice time next week preparing for the possibility of a mobile QB.

I think the only reason BK even brought that up in the presser is because they were already considering sitting him and this was the opportunity to get ahead of that. And to quash the explain the gameplan against Fla why there was no downfall passing and we were attempting to play ball control

if nuss sits, are we opening up the playbook or we gonna stay conservative cause we don't want the backup to look better?

Not just that but it gives you a chance to evaluate Van Buren and give him experience in the scenario that you need him to play in a high leverage situation at some point this season.

No one should be scraed of the backup looking better. If we went conservative it would be because they don't trust the backup, not because they fear he will unseat Nuss.

Flynn made a good point that a right handed QB has to torque more to throw left and deep left throws will be worse (Tech game). Middle throws he can stay compact and have the least torque. Throws right should also be better, but after watching Carter's breakdowns, Weston is getting destroyed on a regular basis and Thompson has struggled too.

Nuss' best throws have been over the middle so it makes sense. But, they need to fix the right side of the OL and specifically RT so Nuss and the run game can work that side.

He should definitely sit out. Let the injury heal for Ole Miss. we could beat SLU with our third string QB. Save Nuss for Ole Miss.

You definitely need to get another QB some work in this game
I know Van Buren wants to redshirt but he's also one play away from having to go in and you don't want your backup with no game experience in case something should happen at some point down the line

if LSU struggles to run the ball against Southeastern then not much hope they will be able to unleash a running game rest of the season

Van Buren can play 4 games and still maintain his redshirt.

Plus, the guy has more SEC experience than many of the league's current starting QBs.

If he was going to sit, he needed to already be resting.

The problem is that if he's not already resting, he's going to have to be throwing again on Monday of next week anyway. I doubt that's enough time.

Is it possible that this is an injury that can only be addressed by taking significant time off or surgery? It appears they have been attempting to manage it for some time now.

Exactly...which casts doubt on the severity of the injury and makes it more clear it was just an excuse thrown out by BK to take the heat off of him that was raised on Saturday.

If the guy is hurt and needs rest to get well for the remainder of the season, where EVERY game will be tougher than the one against SLU, then he shouldn't be practicing at all this week, let alone playing. Not doing so and then putting a significantly hampered QB on the field, on the road, against an SEC opponent when you had the opportunity to let him heal sufficiently would be coaching malpractice.

Of all the no-brainers out there, this requires the least amount of brain use of any of them.

Throwing in practice and running for your life and getting slammed to the turf by opposing teams are vastly different different things.

I often hear coaches talk about games being treated like a business trip. Well sitting an injured QB against a vastly inferior team in the epitome of a business decision.
