He’s still got some gas left in the tank.

Jamal Adams has been playing for LV too.

Both of them are under 30 but back end of their NFL career

Seeing him and Jamal Adams in same defense makes me smile.

Not me. We had LBs who fit that defense beautifully - Phillips and Queen. I would not want to mess with that formula. That’s the one season I wouldn’t want to change a thing. Okay, I wish Stingley hadn’t given up that last TD to Smith. The Bama game would have looked more like the arse-whipping it was. Other than that, it was the perfect season.

It’s not necessarily a trend. It has been happening since pro football started. 8-year veterans are the exception, not the rule.

Every year, the league brings in 1,184 new people (preseason roster size of 90 vs a regular season limit of 53) with the expectation of replacing at least 15% of the workforce. Based on this fact alone, any given player has a 27% chance of making it through year 8.

The average player tenure is 3.3 years.

You realize LSU ran the same exact defense in 2018 as it did in 2019, correct? With White as the MLB. White was a better player than both Phillips and Queen here and the defense as a whole was better that season as well.

Don't forget both struggled early that year. Having Devin would've helped in those early season games just with his experience. Moot point now, but saying you wouldn't add one of the greatest linebackers ever at LSU is a bad take.

White apparently decided to focus on his personal life more than football and it hurt his career a bit. Tampa Bay was very unhappy with him towards the end.

To each his own, whatever makes you happy. He made millions playing a sport and has his health.

Was he not a good locker room guy or just didn't care about football after a few years? I thought it was the latter. Different ways of being a bad teammate, I suppose. I remember reading he just didn't bother to learn the defense.

I think he was better than Phillips, not Queen. Queen was way better at pass defense than White was. Like I said, that season was near perfection. I wouldn't touch it.

I believe they were upset with him because he refused to play within the scheme and was freelancing.
