Having Chase to throw to probably helps mask these numbers to some degree, but this is clearly a franchise that just doesn't give a frick.

I am a fan of Burrow, but I don’t think the office and the O-Line deserves all the blame. I agree they could protect him better and should do so. Joe Burrow needs to learn how to give up on certain plays and throw the ball away, or at least have a safety valve to check down to, he plays every down like it’s 3rd and the Super Bowl, or win and your in. Just look at the pre season, he won’t even give up on meaningless plays.

Quote I read from a Bengals fan that I agree with.

Maybe he should have pushed for OL signings instead of getting Higgins paid.

I haven't seen any NFL o-lines this year so far that are particularly good at pass pro.

The NFL/MLB hates Burrow/Skeens.

Chicken could probably create an entire board for just these types of threads.

He also advocated for drafting Chase over Penei Sewell and then having his top 2 receivers paid huge money (fair for Chase but Higgins was an unnecessary luxury).

Joe has more weapons than anyone in the league other than Hurts. The cost has been a lack of O-Line.

Didn't a stat come out over his first three seasons St. Jeaux held the ball longer than any other starting QB?

Prob because he's spending a couple seconds running out of the packet when the pressure is in his face immediately.

Eta: Sorry, didn't realize you posted a stat roughly 3 years old. Is that still the case?

100% He created this bed that he gets to lay in for the next several years.

Still, you'd think his team would accidentally draft or sign some good players since he got there. It looks like they miss or just don't address it every year.

49ers are guilty of this too, but at least paid for Trent Williams at LT and hit on third and 7th round picks at guard in the last two drafts. Just wild that the Bengal's line is so consistently bad.

Wait you seriously don’t know this?

1. He resigned with them for the largest AAV in NFL history at the time so yeah he chose to be there and chose to take every dollar available.

2. He advocated to not only keep Tee Higgins (who got a top 10ish WR contract) but also for Chase to be the top paid WR as well.

It’s hard to win a championship when you have 40% of your salary cap tied up to 3 players but if it’s tied up in a QB, an elite OT, and an elite corner or pass rusher, you can at least rationalize that. But having it tied up in a qb and two receivers? Hell no.

Look at the last 20-25 Super Bowl winners. Not a single one of them won a SB paying a WR elite money.

On a bigger note, it’s a shame what’s been going down with that 2020 QB class outside of Hurts. That class has or at least had the potential to be every bit as good if not better than that 2018 class.

He’s as soft as charmin. This will happen wherever he plays.

I’m not sure. But I also remember PFF’s ratings of the Bengals’ OL in pass pro had them middle of the pack. As flawed as they are, I trust PFF way more than ESPN.

Yeah PFF’s grade will usually account for sacks and pressures that are due to QB’s behaviors, while ESPN’s literally just grades if you give up a pressure/sack, no accounting for reason why.

I believe their run block win rate is basically if you gain yards or get zero/lose yards on a running play again with no accounting for what the runner does.

They have drafted or signed multiple OL since Burrow has been there. Bad results doesn’t mean they “don’t give a frick”.

Should drafted Sewell instead of Chase. But he wanted Chase.

He also wanted Higgins to be paid very highly. Can’t really have both elite weapon salaries AND elite o line salaries.
