James Harden's Houston restaurant locked out over $2.2 million in unpaid rent

NBA star James Harden’s time as a Houston restaurant owner may have come to an abrupt end. A lockout notice has been posted on the door of Thirteen, Harden’s restaurant in Midtown.

As seen in the image above, the letter states that Thirteen owes more than $2.2 million in unpaid rent for its space at 1911 Bagby Street. If the amount is paid, the restaurant would regain access to the space and could resume operations.

As of the afternoon of September 3, Thirteen’s social media accounts remain active, and the restaurant is still accepting reservations on OpenTable, both of which indicate that it might resume service.

Yea no. They're going to be on pre-pay + steep deposit going forward. That's prime real estate in Midtown.

Just shows that if the refs give you free points your entire career you assume things off the court are free as well.

If you think Harden has any idea about the rent payments on a restaurant, you are giving him too much credit.

Then why start a restaurant?

They aren’t exact set it and forget it money makers.

My uncle rented out a nice house to a former NBA player, solid journeyman with a 10 plus year career. Left the place absolutely trashed when he moved out.

He invested in a restaurant. He's probably a majority owner but he isn't operating it. You hire people for that kind of thing. Those are the people that have dropped the ball.

It's probably an LLC or hospitality group funded, but not managed, by Harden. That would be my guess.

Edit: yeah, it's in the letter head.

from the looks of the reviews and the website it appears to cater to an…urban crowd. Couple of the reviews mention that it looks like a strip club LOL

anyway, as noted harden only funds it he ain’t working the hot line or the host station

Wouldn't he want to know how his investment is performing?

two things:

1) James Harden has hundreds of millions of dollars
2) he ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed

are you surprised in any way that a James harden restaurant is sketchy?

Are you really asking me why athletes make poor financial decisions? Do you think Harden got an MBA from ASU?

Didn't even know he had a restaurant.

Is it really his? Or did he sell his name to some investors like Bun B?
