1) Garrett Nussmeier is hurt worse than they have
led on.
2) Whoever is coaching the offense is completely
Incompetent.

I think it's 2nd. Nuss was able to scramble at seemingly full health vs Florida and another time or two in prior weeks. Didn't look injured in his scrambles.

Coaching can only go so far when your line cannot block for the run game....just like last year, our O Line is the Achilles Heel....

At some point you have to accept what you are though. It doesn’t help that LSU is refusing to take a fair amount of shots down field. Teams are able to stack the hell out of the box on us. It’s why Sharp was so wide open on that big play

I don't remember Florida having to send more than 5 all that much which would lead me to believe our WRs are having trouble getting open. On top of that you have an OC that takes 2+ quarters to realize he can call plays where the ball is thrown beyond the fricking LOS.

Maybe they're trying to mask the OL? Maybe they're hiding Nuss? Who knows.

You do realize that 4 of the offensive linemen are playing in the NFL from last year? The offensive coaches are the problem. Without Daniels being such a freak they didn't have a run game that year either!!!

But they did though. You can’t just take away JD5 from their offense and try to grade them fairly

That being said Sloan wasn’t calling the plays then

LSU is 3-0 with two very nice wins.

Enjoy the season and quit moaning about everything.

Usually because the defense is taking away the deep ball.

But they don't because they can drop back in coverage and still stop the run.

If you can't run, play action won't work. Suddenly, without a running game and defenses dropping back, you're limited to a short passing game and you just don't have as many plays to call.

Losing Green doesn't help.

My question is why did La. Tech and Florida look so different than Clemson? Say what you will about their record but Clemson D is way more talented than the other 2

Plenty of teams throw to open up the run nowadays.

3) Nussmeier is being told to be conservative and don't lose the game for us and he's not taking the risk downfield

On most plays there is a checkers match between the QB and the DBs around how many players are in the box to stop the run versus back preventing deep routes. I think we might just be losing a lot of those matches.

Safeties try to fool the QB, who tries to get us in the correct play based on what the defense is showing. The QB has to make the adjustment then - and this is the critical part - get the play off before the defense can adjust again. My guess is that Nuss is not getting this done. Safeties are bluffing two deep then one flies to the box at the last moment, or vice-versa.

So, I don’t think the problem is play calling or the QB’s physical performance. It might not even be the QB’s fault at all. Maybe the problem is that our line, or our skill players, is slow to get the calls and that gives time to the defense.

Agreed. Nuss took a couple of shots and didn't limp around like he typically does. I don't think it's Nuss.

I think it's a shite scheme that compounds the weak OL play we have.

Completely Disagree on Clemson’s D being way more talented than a Florida’s. Florida got Banks back for our game and he terrorized us relentlessly last year. Florida has serious talent on defense.

Or
3) We have a bunch of new receivers who Nussmeier isn't yet in synch with.

Last year, our top 5 receivers were Aaron Anderson, Kyren Lacy, Mason Taylor, CJ Daniels, and Josh Williams.

This year, Anderson is doing fine. 6 for 99 @ Clemson, 8 for 73 vs La Tech, 4 for 75 vs Fla.
The rest of those guys are not on the team this year.

Let's see what happens by the middle of the season.

And it's been a while since I looked at the numbers but I think the RBs were averaging like 5.5 you as a unit. Of course, the threat of Daniels helps a lot with that.

Maybe you could give our opponents an ounce of credit?

Clemson and Florida might be top 15 defenses. NFL talent across all levels of both of those teams

LA Tech was even a top 25 D last year
