I’d rather be 3-0 and questioning the offense than 2-1 and questioning the defense!

I think Coach Kelly was spot on with his frustration about the question regarding the offense. He knows the offense needs to improve and it will be much easier for them to get better with the talent they have than trying to improve a bad defense. Glad to see some fire from him because the bottom line is winning in the SEC is damn hard and Florida came to play!

The good thing is offenses tend to get it together quicker than defenses. We should know this by now.

I’d rather be 3-0 than 2-1 period.

I’d also rather half the team not be ranking at the bottom of FBS.

You gotta be dumb as a bag of hammers to believe this is about the value of offense vs defense & not the simple fact that championship teams are never rancid eggs at half the game of football.

I guarantee you our standing in the stats will be much better after next week.

Go look at who other teams have played. And keep in mind our gimme game, LA Tech was 12th in the country in total D last season.

These are the only teams that stand undefeated and have played 2 P4 teams (and truthfully some of the P4 teams that qualified them to be on tbis list are fringe P4)

LSU
Ole miss
Vandy
Oregon
Iowa st
GT
NC St
Cal

We are 116 in rushing offense, 111 in redzone offense, and 106 in yards per completion.

If that sounds familiar it’s because that looks a lot like last year, but that was with an NFL OL. So you’ll have to forgive my lack of optimism regarding the offense.

The common denominator in recent championship teams is their defense. Ohio st was #1 in total, so was Michigan, UGA was i believe 5 and 2 for their back to backs.

In 2023 Michigan was #1 in total D and #69 in total offense. They were 82nd in passing offense. 55th in rushing.

Defensive championship teams typically run the ball well & convert short yardage consistently.

So UM 55 in rushing vs LSU at 116 in rushing.
UM 69 in total offense vs LSU 94 in total offense.
132 FBS teams.

It has to get (a lot) better. There is a difference between ball control vs just being ineffective.

You're not wrong but you are making this statistical ranking comparison way premature. We are 3 games into the season (and a lot of teams only have 2 games played) and like I said we have played 2 P4 opponents and an opponent that finished 12th in total D last season. We went up against "the best DL in the nation" and another defense with 4 and 5 stars all over it. shite will level out amongst teams as the weeks go by and conference play really gets going.

Last season we finished 25th in total offense (and i'll give you that the running game was atrocious) but if we were to compare the first 3 games we currently have more rushing yards than last year and 187 less total yards. Last season we played an FCS team. And we were playing from behind for the majority of 2/3 games.

The offense is going to be fine.

I’d rather be 3-0 and have both sides of the ball look at least competent

Agree. Anyone who didn’t think that game would be a war after Florida lost to USF with their upcoming schedule was fooling themselves. They might end up 3-9 given their schedule and circumstances, but they gave us everything they had. Had we played Florida towards the end of the season , we’d probably beat them by 30.

Yes and I also realize it was our 2nd game vs an elite defense. You follow me now?

Negatigers would rather be 0-3 and firing coaches.
