What is a “stop” considered?

Keys is a beast. Athletic freak. He was criminally underrated coming out of Aledo in HS.

He was ranked as the #25 LB, and #51 player in the state of Texas coming out. Texas HS football guys routinely had him as the top LB in the state.

Good question. My guess it’s a tackle that prevents a first down.

Seem like a good stat because it tracks making plays when it really matters.

Keyes definitely makes tackles no whiffle ball. This team is a lot better tackling than last years team.

Not al all surprised, my surprised - he showed a lot of promise once he started playing last year. In fact I still remember the dropped pic vs Florida last year, I honestly think if he hangs on to that we win the game, that was a big momnetum swing.

But I remember thinking he was in position to make that play having very little experience, which to me meant alot. I was actually surprised West was starting over him to be honest and thal's not slight to West, I just think Keys is that good.

Was pretty surprised he wasn't a starter this year.

Came here to say this. Watches him frequently at Aledo and he was on a different planet playing against good football teams. He’s going to be very good if we can keep him.

I said in the offseason I thought Keys could be Devin White good. Similar size, speed and a HS RB. Maybe not as physical yet, but he has the tools to be special.

So out of 14 tackles, 12 were after a first down was made? That doesn’t sound very good. He had 1 TFL & a half sack, so those were stops which means every other tackle was after the ball carrier or receiver crossed the line to gain. Am I missing something?

Did you use your eyeballs? He was everywhere and he’s an athletic mutant. He’s only going to get better

Weeks and Keys may be the starters going forward. He played very well.

I wonder if stop means the tackle happened on 3rd down and prevented the 1st down?

Is “NFL grade” different than PFF?

Apparently:

PFF HIGHEST GRADES

Dashawn Spears, SS – 97.9
Mansoor Delane, CB – 80.1
Garrett Nussmeier, QB – 78.5
West Weeks, LB – 76.7
AJ Haulcy, FS – 74.8
PJ Woodland, CB – 74.1

I wasn’t trying to criticize his 14 tackles or his defensive prowess. I guess I mis-stated what I was trying to say. I am just questioning that 12 of his 14 tackles were downfield, after a first down was gained. I realize some of those may have been a 1 or 2 yard gain. It just sounds like 2 stops seems low. No disrespect to Keys at all.
