Why Dallas, Texas is the worst major city in the world

Every major city has its flaws, but usually there are redeeming qualities that balance them out. Take Atlanta for example. It has plenty of problems, but there are still clear reasons why someone might choose to stay. Dallas on the other hand feels like every issue is amplified with almost nothing positive to offset it. The traffic is a nightmare, the city is so unwalkable you practically need to Uber across the street, the city looks like a collection of 1980s strip malls, the weather is brutal, it is flat and bare with hardly any trees, the food scene is mid at best, and it is no longer even cheap to live there.
So genuinely, what is the appeal? For those of you who love Dallas, I would like to hear why, because from my perspective I just do not see it.

Memphis, Chicago, Atlanta, New Orleans, Philadelphia, say “Dallas who?”

Goes for about every major city in America because we refuse to take mass transit. Dallas is no exception.

Hyperbole. It's hot. Now compare Dallas weather to Houston, Phoenix, Vegas,New Orleans, Atlanta, San Antonio, Miami, etc.

it is flat

Weird thing to make it the worst major city in the world.

with hardly any trees

Well, that's not true.

Not saying Dallas is some utopian paradise but there are far worse cities around.

Most of that is true

Dallas is still immensely popular because it has nice areas, keeps hood confined to hood areas, lots of conservatives and traditionalists, and money.

It’s also better than Houston

Compared to other big cities it looks affordable

Unless you're trying to live in Highland Park or something

I live here and it’s okay for city living, imo. I am in a ‘suburb’, like 20 min from downtown. Grew up in a small Texas town.

Once I make enough money my chick and I are moving to the middle of nowhere though.

It’s weird, I’ll think about when I was younger (like 10, I’m 35 now) and thinking I wanted to be in LA or NYC and doing so I’d have ‘made it’

Since you didn't mention bums and crime as an issue, Dallas sounds nice compared to most metro cities I've been to.

As a kid from SE Texas, I grew up not caring for Dallas. Had a great business trip there in the early 90s that made me change my thoughts a.little. But my last two times through Dallas were not fun. For me, it’s a giant, faceless monster with little that I find interesting. I was right when I was a kid. Thought it was bland then, think it’s bland now.

I’ve been to every major city except Portland. I completely disagree that Dallas is below average, but I agree it sucks to visit.

Not true, unless you spent time in the new suburbs way north of Dallas closer to Oklahoma. That’s basically prairie land.

I lived there for 3 years. Hated it.

Pluses:

1. DFW is a major hub so you could get the hell of Dodge easily.
2. Great restaurants.
3. Beautiful women.

Negatives:

1. HOT as hell.
2. Ugly.
3. No matter how much you make you can't compete.

tell me that you've never left the USA without telling me.

Plenty of absolutely wretched huge cities in Asia, Africa, and S America.

If Dallas is the worst then what does that make Houston?

Houston is far shittier swampier and more traffic. Its terrible

Yeah at this point in my life there us zero appeal to living in a major city. They are just for visiting.
