May be in the neighborhood this afternoon. Plan to stop at Teets. Any others that are highly recommended?

TIA

On a Sunday, your options are limited.

I'm sure there are other places in Ville Platte that sell quality sausage.

Teet's (Ville Platte) = Open
T-Boy's (Mamou) = Closed
Charlie's (Mamou) = Closed
Mel's Quick Stop ( between Mamou & Eunice on La-13) = Open
LeJeune's (Eunice) = Closed

Absolutely

Can't remember the name of it, but there is a store just down the road (1/4 mile?) that also has damn good smoked and cut meats.

Mowata Store in between Eunice and Crowley is good, if you're on Hwy 13. Their tasso is really good and those breakfast sausages are outstanding... But they're closed on Sunday.

On Sunday, Teet's in VP is the best. Teet's also has good barbeque plate lunches on Sunday.

Paul's in VP is also really good, and their boudin is good too.
And.. I was at Paul's this past weekend and noticed that their produce is much nicer than any of the stores in the area and they had some very pretty bone in 7 steaks that I swiped up.

Superette in Eunice is open on Sunday from 8 to 2. They have good sausage and a nice meat counter and always have the pork backbone cuts for backbone stew.

Lejeune’s in Eunice has the best ponce I’ve ever had.

Mowata store has the best boudin I’ve ever had (non smoked)

Superette in Eunice is just good all around

Totally agree but they quit handling it. Very disappointing.

Bubba's boudin at the Mowata Store is very good.

That is incredibly disappointing.

Know of anywhere that has a decent one? Best Stop’s is just OK imo.

Lejeune folks quit making them because they are too much work to do. I stop by their kitchen often for their smoked spicy garlic sausage and chunks of tasso.

The Mowata Store has good ponces. Among other things…their breakfast sausage links are the best around.

BTW… Lejeune’s is up for sale if anyone wants to drop some coin on their recipes. Only $1.5 million…

Welp, after revisiting this thread, looks like I'll be going to Paul's in Ville Platte, Big Poppa's in Chataignier, and The Mowata Store. and maybe more.

FYI, The Mowata store makes their own roux with hog lard.

They aren’t likely to sell it but are getting long in the tooth and their kids don’t want to fool with it. Basically it would just purchase the recipes though, as the old man still owns the property and isn’t going to sell that. It’s a cool spot. The right owner could take that business to new heights, as they don’t even do online orders. Their tasso is some of the best stuff you can put in your gulley.

I will provide you: Mr. T’s in Elton… they have what I consider the best boudin in this area. Their regular boudin, that is. Their smoked blend is fire too. I started working regularly in SW Louisiana in ealry 2023 and I have sought out the best boudin and cracklins… to me, Mr. T’s is the best boudin in this area.

Superette cracklins fresh out of the grease are the best I’ve had around here in Eunice, but Bosco’s, not far down 190 leaving Opelousas headed towards Pott Barre… their cracklins are excellent. Most likely my favorite.

Also you can get fresh farm eggs at Mowata Store for $3.50 a dozen.

If you want fresh raw milk, stop by the Postmaster General store in Branch on Thursday afternoon. The dairy milks every Thursday and brings the milk to the store. They also sell quail eggs by the dozen. Branch is in between Church Point and Rayne.

If you want the best andouille, the butcher at the Piggly Wiggly in Church Point makes it custom in house and it is incredibly tasty.
