I didn't get to see the Weeks targeting play. Was it legit or nit pickey?

Can’t lower the crown.

Nuss got hit the exact same way Sellars did when he got concussed, but the Florida guy was tossed.

Looked to me like Weeks was going to wrap up the runner between his own shoulder and helmet, but the runner dipped his helmet into the targeting.

Have to blame the rule over the call in that moment. I’m glad Weeks was able to stay on the sideline to still give leadership though.

Bad rule. Correct call.

Agree. He lowered his head but you could tell it was an inadvertent helmet to helmet hit.

It didn't look like targeting when I saw it live but as soon as I saw the replay I had a bad feeling that he might get ejected. Like others have said, it appears the rule was applied correctly when you view it in slow motion but man it seems ridiculous to eject him for that when you take a step back and watch it live. Weeks didn't launch himself and the ball carrier was not in danger. It wasn't malicious/flagrant or egregious. The wording of this rule needs to be tweaked in my opinion.

Eta: I was happy and surprised to see that they let him stay on the sidelines. And the silver lining is that we apparently have a nearly endless supply of Weeks's

Thank you.

The rule is the rule, I guess.

Bad call...RB lowered his head in anticipation of contact. Should have been a. no call

They had to call it. They really need to fix the rule somehow. It is ridiculous.

The fact that someone in the booth can slow these plays down between plays and radio to the refs to go to a review is the problem. It wasn’t called on the field. Looks like a normal football tackle at live speed. And the ball carriers head movements have to be taken into consideration.

It was the correct call and there is really no dispute…if he keeps his head up instead of lowering it, the helmet contact wouldn’t have been an issue.
People saying it was not targeting either don’t know the rule or have the purple and gold glasses on too tight,

It was legit as far as the letter of the rule is written. The rule is just nitpicky.

I will call out terrible officiating when I see it, but that is a case of dumb rule with the right call.

We also got away with taunting over and over.

Overall, I thought the refs were pretty mid. They let us taunt with impunity and called UF for many 5% of their holds lol.

Thank goodness they saw the hold on the 90yd TD. UF goes up 10-0 there and we are in big trouble with our terrible offensive game plans.

If he keeps his facemask up, instead of lowering the crown, perfect tackle. But that lowering at the very end checks letter of the law.

Not egregious but the right call.

So if tackler is coming in and runner lowers his head for one second before contact helmets collide. What is tackler supposed to do? Jump over him? There is no consistency in these calls from one play to the next.

It was the exact right call

RB lowered his head in anticipation of contact.

He is not a RB, he is a WR and the location of his head was not relevant to the call

Should have been a. no call

If you’re going to have targeting penalties you have to call this one. Weeks LED WITH THE CROWN OF HIS HELMET. It didn’t matter at that point where weeks hit him. He could have been struck in the ankle and Weeks would have been ejected. If you lead with the crown you will get ejected. Weeks knows this. He just made a mistake. I’ll bet it doesn’t happen again.

I thought it was legit. Had a Fl player made the hit on us I wouldn't protest if he was ejected.

Contact him with shoulder pads and facemask. Just not crown of helmet.

This. The runner wasn’t defenseless and Weeks did not launch. If you want to give 15 yards for helmet to helmet ok but tossing the player should be reserved for vicious intentional hits
