410 gauge question

Anyone know of a brand of single shot 410 gauge that shoots rifled slugs accurately out to 50 yards? Looking for one for a 7 year old.

You looking for him to shoot 410 slugs at deer?
If so, I'd suggest just going get a real rifle for the kid they could use for a long time. There's plenty of calibers with reduced recoil ammo out there that even small kids can handle.

Unless you're somewhere that requires slugs, get him something else. .410 slugs are terrible. They're low power, inaccurate, too much recoil for what you get.
ANY centerfire rifle, and I mean ANY centerfire rifle would be better. A single shot .357 magnum would be far better. A single shot .223 would be far better.

Hunting small parcel with homes nearby. I bowhunt. Hence the need for a 410 slug gun. Have 243 and 25-06 for when in a club or on other large properties. Have a real old 410 that shoots 2.5 in shells. At 22 yards it wont hit a pie plate. Lol

I could never hit anything with a .410 no matter if it was a slug or shot. Likely your kid won’t be able to either

350 Legend to 50yds would be a fine round compared to a 410

I have a Henry lever action 410 and shoot Hornady sabot slugs out to 50 yards. Just for fun we were hitting 50% IPSC plates (9"x15") consistently center of plate.

H&R makes a single-shot 28-gauge shotgun, and Benneke has a 28-gauge slug, which, in my opinion, would be better for hunting deer, and you could use it for squirrels. The only downside is that you would likely have to buy your ammo online.

Yep, that would work.

That's a good way to make him learn to flinch and experience losing a deer to an underpowered round.
Highly recommend that if you can, get him a rifle. Maybe a .243, 7mm-08, something light that is actually deadly on deer. Once that slug slaps him a few times he's going to flinch every time.

I second the 44 mag. My son killed his 1st deer with one at 7 years old.
Low recoil, good at 100+ yards, low recoil, and can use during primitive arms season if needed.

The bad thing is if it comes out of a rifled barrel with enough arse to kill a deer, its got enough arse to leave the property and be dangerous. If thats the main concern, a bow is really the only "safe" option.
Something like a .22-250 or other very high velocity centerfire is a good choice too. They are very low ricochet risk.

All I hunted rabbits with was a single shot .410, couldn't venture a guess how many I have killed.

I understand that, but damn how close are these houses? Are they hunting in a neighborhood?
