If I'm just chilling, I'd always rather put on Wish You Were Here over Dark Side of the Moon. Much more mellow and relaxing. Have a Cigar slaps and the transition from it to Wish You Were Here is awesome. Only Pink Floyd song with someone else on the vocals, which until 2004 Pink Floyd considered true and forgot about The Great Gig in the Sky. Clare Torry finally got a check, or a cheque, I suppose.

One of the best nights of my life was Pink Floyd in the PMAC . They played almost the entire Animals and Wish You Were Here albums before closing with Money. The Wish You Were Here segment was otherworldly. Ok the whole concert was otherworldly but the haunting of the sync on WYWH was amazing.

Pink Floyd will celebrate 50 years of Wish You Were Here with a lavish reissue, including six previously unreleased studio demos and several live bootleg concerts. Announced exactly 50 years after the original album landed on shelves, Wish You Were Here 50 will arrive on 3LP, 2CD, Blu-ray, digital, and deluxe box set on December 12th

The six unreleased studio recordings include an instrumental, rough mix of “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”, Waters’ original home demo for “Welcome to the Machine” (then titled “The Machine Song”), an alternate take on “Wish You Were Here” and Gilmour’s isolated pedal steel mix, and—for the first time—all nine parts of album epic “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” presented in order, rather than bookending the album

IMHO, their 2nd best album. Behind Animals.

Dark Side/Moon blew me away the most on the first few listens but now, I prefer Animals and Wish You Were Here.

Brit Floyd did 50 years of Wish You were here this year and played the entire album. It was fantastic

I will say that Brit Floyds cover of Shine on you Crazy Diamond is probably one of my favorite covers they do of The Floyd. The guitar work in that cover is something I love and Ian's vocals are spot on

Great album

Even when I'm not chilling. I much prefer WYWH, even though Darkside is a better overall record. I'm not sure if it's from fatigue of hearing it so much over the decades, but Darkside is low on my playlist when selecting a record of theirs to listen to. My main rotations are Animals, The Wall and WYWH

I played the hell out of those bootleg songs from those 1975 concerts. Then I switched over to the Animal Instincts and Mr Pig bootlegs from the Oakland ‘77 show. They play all of Animals and WYWH in ‘77.

My absolute favorite is Pigs (Three Different Ones), the Mr Pig mix. Extra guitar solo and the whole song is energetic dynamite.

I think Animals is better also, but still go with DSM.

Did hear Have A Cigar live from Black Jacket when they did The Wall (after the break). Thought that was pretty neat.

Animals and WYWH are neck and neck for me. I’ll think it’s Animals then I’ll here that little beautiful arpeggio from Shine and it is just magic.

I think so yes. Those two songs were held back for “animals” when they made “wish you were here” after trying them out on stage

Yes. Dogs had more lyrics, too, and the order was a lil different. Not too much. They wrote these songs around 1974, then refined them in concerts before committing them to the Animals album.

What was funny about Sheep is that the earlier versions had a giddyap type of bouncy rhythm. Funny at times, really.

I looked up those live versions and then it was obvious what they were. Sheep early version almost had a One Of These Days feel in part of it.
