Mental illness

With what I do for a living I see it everyday. There are tons of people every week that come in that can’t handle any kind of adversity and are barely functional in the real world. I guess all of these people used to be thrown into mental asylums. These are the same people that we see doing insane things like killing random people and not having any remorse. I know that drugs both recreational and prescription have played huge roles in this but I think we need to bring back the funny farms and send these people away. We don’t have to do experiments but at least will get them out of the way of society.

Isn’t that why they developed prisons?

Mental illness is real.
However, mental illness as a leniency should not be granted in court, particularly when it comes to felonious acts.
You kill someone, you lose your rights.

I agree it’s real. I see it everyday but just cause it is real doesn’t mean it has to affect everyone around you negatively.

I don’t like this automatic assumption they have a mental illness. Some people are just evil. Fry em.

I'm not talking about what the courts define as mental illness.
If human life has no value to someone, considering that person is also human, they're mentally ill. I don't say that as a way to soften who they are. If you kill someone, that's evil, it's also mentally fricked.

No, its what they developed mental institutions for. They took a big hit when Obama started messing with healthcare.

Obviously mental illness is an issue, but what I think is a big issue is that it has become so accepting in society that people don't mind using it as an excuse for everything.
It seems like everyone has something these days. Mental illness, autism (I am not saying this isn't a thing. Obviously it is, I am talking about the self diagnosed idiots who got around saying shite like "its my autism"), ADHD.. People use all of this for reasons they can't or will not do something.
I say this because of my experience, but long story short I was having a lot of pain and my doctor could not pinpoint where it was coming from. I took pain meds because I needed relief and he also gave me something for anxiety because I had a panic attack during this because I was freaking out about having this pain that the doctor couldn't figure out what was causing it. It ended up being my gallbladder. That whole situation was probably the most pain I ever experienced. Anyway, so a few days after I had my gallbladder removed I freaked the frick out.
From what I can remember, it was like I was watching myself outside of my body. I was doing and saying shite that was out of character. On one hand I was aware of what I was saying, but on the other hand I couldn't control what I was saying. So I was aware it wasn't things I would say, but it didn't stop me from saying them.. If that makes sense. Long story short, evidently the meds I was taking for anxiety.. It had been a few days I didn't take them just because I was happen to know where the pain was coming from. Long story short my doctor at the time completely missed something on an x-ray or MRI or something.. I just know the doctor who did my surgery said that I was lucky and that my doctor should have caught it.
But evidently, the meds I stopped taking was something you just didn't stop taking. You had to ween yourself off of it. I should have read it.. Or my doctor should have told me when prescribing it, but it made me flip out. Not in away I was a danger to me or others, but I could see how a person could take some mental related meds, one day just stop taking them and then flip out and do some absolute crazy shite. But I doubt we would ever hear about it if this happened to someone who went shoot up a place.

I have mental illness and would never even THINK about doing something like this. These people are likely psychopaths who do these kinds of things.

I think they mean more an entire section of society that thinks it’s ok to chop kids dicks off, give them radical hormone therapy, and teach your kids that men can get pregnant. They not only think it’s ok, it’s what they want.

WTF dude? You think the truly mentally ill deserve that kind of treatment? By definition they have a disease they cannot control, no different than coming down with cancer. They need need to be in mental institutions so they can be medicated, and hopefully successfully released,.

American doctors and prescription drugs are 100% to blame.
Also throw in parents putting their kids on drugs vs actually parenting.

Seems there are certainly more than we use to have. But of course we have more people. And like bad apples the rank are pretty noticeable.
That said I'm pretty sure it's not just societal and the reasons near innumerable.
We raise people different these days, almost like chickens in crowed big rooms, where we start off in megalithic sized public schools. We drink water that's tainted with psychoactive medicines. Because they pass through us (unbroken down) into water treatment plants which don't filter out these drugs. And are in greater concentration the further downstream we happen to be. We find it even with caffeine (so what's that doing). We use prisons as holding places for the inane instead of locking them up separately. Add in the break down of the family unit, raising kids up on video games, the lack of physical. activity, etc... on so on. . .
Not meant io be an all inclusive list. Rather pointing out we need to consider this more of an national emergency than we are currently.

Mental illness issues are increasing because some people accept and encourage people to think outside the norms of a civilized society, anf sadly many of these are children. It's sad.

Yes, mental illness is real.
Here’s a little bit of information about NGRI. Being found NGRI is extremely rare.
That plea is used in less than one percent of felony cases.
It is successful in only about 1/4 of those case. Meaning overall, 0.025 of felonies result in NGRI outcome.
In those cases where NGRI is successful, defendants often spend more time in a forensic psychiatric hospital then they would have spent in jail if found guilty.
There is a move in many states towards Guilty but Mentally Ill (GBMI). This verdict allows for a guilty verdict and a prison sentence, but it also allows the defendant to receive psychiatric treatment during incarceration, recognizing their mental state without completely excusing them from responsibility

No - they used to get raised right where parents told their kids no, they didn't give them recognition for losing in sports, and made their kids play outside without instant dopamine hits off of an ipad. Unfortunately over the last 20+ years we have an entire generation that has never experienced adversity, doesn't know God, and have been brain washed by the machine to think that anybody to the right of Joe Biden is "literally hitler"

I’m nine months into recovery. I got here after years of hitting rock bottom, including nasty mental episodes fueled by alcohol and pills. What pulled me out of the spiral was the integrated treatment at Legacy Healing Center: supervised detox, group therapy, and addressing anxiety and depression in the same plan (dual diagnosis).
