Is this the highest profile assassination of a political activist since MLK?

I’m blinded by rage right now so I’m not really thinking clearly, but I think this is the first and/or highest profile assassination of a political activist since MLK.

RFK was killed two months after MLK, but other than him, yes.

I think there was a decent chance that Charlie Kirk could have become President one day. Even over Vance and possibly Trump himself, Charlie I think was the ultimate embodiment of MAGA and could have been the heir apparent had he been ten years older.
