I've a 2007 Chevy Silverado 5.3 with 250K miles. I bought the truck new and it has been a solid vehicle. I'd like to hold onto it and continue to use it., as I have maintained it throughout the years. It has just recently developed a coolant leak and has white smoke coming out of the exhaust upon startup. It isn't running hot. I am hesitant to spend over $2k for a full auto headgasket repair at an auto shop. Has anyone used K-Seal Ultimate or another pour-in headgasket repair sealant product that worked well and held up. TIA for your help.

Like a pour in oil leak sealant, works a little bit for a little while. It's a temporary stop gap item.

Dont do it. Stop leak in the cooling system is bad news.

Again, DO NOT DO IT

I think you are wasting your time with these pour in fixes. Does your oil look like chocolate milk?

Then it needs to be fixed correctly.

Pretty much all leak stop/sealants only partially work and end up cause more problems in the future

Take it somewhere and have a coolant system leak down test performed.
Also, an intake manifold gasket failure can give a false cylinder head gasket failure indication which is a lot easier repair and cheaper than a cylinder head gasket replacement.

You are either junking the car or spending the money for the repair.

That auto zone crap isn't going to do you any good.

I have watched episodes of Roadkill where they tried similar head gasket in a bottle leak fix. At best they made it a few miles farther down the road before engine blew up

I'm a master tech of 45 years, Don't do it, fix it the right way. It will gig=ve you a chance to check wear on cam and lifters. If it has wear do not scrimp on parts, get the good stuff.

Don’t mess around with half-arse jury rigs.

Fix it right or get rid of it and get something you can depend upon.

Murphys Law will jump up and bite you.
